Fuka Koshiba Shows Two Fashion Styles on Set of The 19th Carte
She’s Currently Focused on Core Training
In the scorching sunlight near the central shopping street of Yokosuka City, a woman stood out with her striking fashion. Holding a large umbrella, she strode along in a pink T-shirt and jogging pants—it was actress Fuka Koshiba (28).
Koshiba is currently appearing in The 19th Medical Record (19-banme no Karte), a TBS Sunday drama starring Jun Matsumoto (41) from Arashi.
“The original work is a serialized manga by Katsuhito Fujiya, with the script written by Fumi Tsubota, known for the Kounodori series (TBS). It’s a medical drama focusing not only on illness but also on patients’ hearts, lives, and ways of living, presenting the concept of a ‘19th form of medicine’: general practice. It’s a human drama about a general practitioner. Koshiba plays Mizuki Takino, a rookie orthopedic surgeon at Uotora General Hospital, where Matsumoto’s character, general practitioner Akira Tokushige, works.” (TV magazine writer)
That day’s filming took place at a long-established diner in the shopping street. Koshiba first arrived in a casual outfit—black printed T-shirt, wide-legged work pants, and sandals—but three hours later, when she came out again, she was in the jogging outfit mentioned earlier.
“Naomasa Musaka (71), who appeared in episode 1 as a patient with a fracture, was inside the diner, so it seems they were filming interactions between him and Koshiba, who plays the orthopedic doctor. Since she later came out in jogging wear and got into the location bus, perhaps she was heading to the next filming spot.” (Local resident)
Koshiba has also been gaining praise for her role as an oiran courtesan in the currently airing NHK Taiga drama Berabou. In this drama, her character Takino is written as having a judo background. In an interview published July 13 on ORICON NEWS, she said:
“The director asked me to bring out a sports drama vibe. My impression of people who practice judo is that they have strong core strength, so I wanted to reflect that in how I move and run. That’s why I’m currently working hard on core training.”
It’s possible that after filming that day, Koshiba had changed clothes to go jogging. Watching her, one could sense the dedication she pours into her roles.
