<h3><span class="strongInContent"> Did you enter the entertainment industry with the goal of becoming an idol?</span></h3>
<p> Hi~!　Again, this time from Kyun to Bakkyun. Wow~!　This is the second installment of this series, so I&#8217;m going to get excited~. Last time I wrote about &#8220;Wednesday&#8217;s Downtown,&#8221; but this time I&#8217;m going to write about my roots, including how I became a comedian and the &#8220;Surprise Hell&#8221; I&#8217;ve been through!</p>
<p> I originally wanted to be an idol, not a comedian. I had always wanted to be a &#8220;pop idol&#8221; like Seiko Matsuda (63) or Yoko Oginome (56). When I was doing my teaching internship at university, I sang &#8220;The Angel&#8217;s Thesis&#8221; to get along with the elementary school children, and they got a lot more excited than I expected. I was strangely moved and thought, &#8220;Maybe I&#8217;m suited for this. I thought, &#8220;Maybe I am suited for this.</p>

<p> But it was extremely difficult to tell my parents about such a dream. I went to a junior college after graduating from college, and then transferred to a university, so it wasn&#8217;t the right time to tell them I wanted to be an idol. So I took the liberty of joining the &#8220;Laugh It Away! I went to Tokyo the day before and camped out in front of ALTA to audition for a &#8220;contest where I don&#8217;t look 25. I really wanted to be on TV. I passed the audition, and at that moment when I was on TV for the first time, I felt like my life started to change.</p>
<p> I decided to become serious about becoming an idol, so I applied to Shochiku Entertainment&#8217;s idol club and was accepted without a hitch. But when I went to the lesson, for some reason I was sent to show my material, and the instructor said to me, &#8220;Why didn&#8217;t you bring your material? I was told, &#8220;Why didn&#8217;t you bring your story? In short, I was cheated. In a way, that was probably the first time I was tricked.</p>
<p> I think these days people have a strong image of the &#8220;Wednesday Downtown&#8221; surprise, but I&#8217;ve been getting surprises all my life. Especially when I was young, many of them were mentally tough. One of the most memorable ones was the &#8220;Q-sama ‼︎&#8221; (TV Asahi) breakup surprise. It was a &#8220;breakup surprise&#8221; and the leader of the group suddenly said, &#8220;I want to be a rapper. He had been practicing rapping for a while before that. I didn&#8217;t understand what it meant at the time, but it was all a setup (laughs).</p>
<p> (Laughs.) But at that time, I seriously thought, &#8220;He&#8217;s going to quit. If the duo broke up, the three of us would have to split our income 50-50, and to be honest, we would not be able to make a living. Above all, I thought to myself, &#8220;No one will be happy with this decision! I was so serious that I started to cry as I stopped the show. Looking back, I realize that a comedian&#8217;s job is to make people laugh, but I was crying my eyes out on national television. &#8230;&#8230; I was so pathetic and frustrated and all sorts of emotions were mixed up in my heart. I really felt like I was going to have a mental breakdown.</p>

<h3><span class="strongInContent"> Stop your girlfriends from finding out about your passionate articles!</span></h3>
<p> Every time I get a surprise, I react to it and make everyone laugh, right? The roots of my reaction are not actually from comedians, but from &#8220;pro-wrestling athletes. I was particularly impressed by the &#8220;aesthetics of being beaten&#8221; by Toshiaki Kawada and Kenta Kobashi, and thought that the sight of pain, suffering, and being pushed into a corner is what strikes people&#8217;s hearts.</p>
<p> As a comedian, I too believe that &#8220;getting beat up&#8221; and &#8220;getting angry&#8221; are the best things you can do, and if it makes someone laugh, I&#8217;m willing to take on any amount of pressure!　That&#8217;s how I feel. In that sense, I believe that reaction art is &#8220;professional wrestling with laughter!</p>

<p> I am a person who can switch off no matter how hard things get, and this is partly thanks to &#8220;FRIDAY&#8221; and partly because of it. A long time ago, I went out to dinner with a tennis girl I met on a DVD shoot, but the article said, &#8220;Failure to take home a girl! (laughs).</p>
<p> I didn&#8217;t want my girlfriend in Osaka to see the article, so I went to Osaka first thing in the morning and bought all the copies of FRIDAY at a nearby convenience store. Looking back now, I think I could have found a better way, but I was in a real hurry at the time. But in the end, my girlfriend saw it on a hanging advertisement on the train and found out. &#8230;&#8230; I couldn&#8217;t stop crying.</p>
<p> And when I explained to her that I had bought all of them at a convenience store, she got angry and said, &#8220;Then why didn&#8217;t you come to see me? She was really right. But then I turned on a switch and said, &#8220;I don&#8217;t need to worry about things that don&#8217;t bother me anymore,&#8221; and from then on, I really didn&#8217;t care. So in a way, maybe it was FRIDAY that made me who I am. I can talk about it now, but on the day I was photographed, I actually went to a sex club after dropping the girl off. I&#8217;m grateful that they didn&#8217;t write that (laughs).</p>
<p> (Laughs.) Lately, &#8220;Wednesday&#8217;s Downtown&#8221; has been so great that there are fewer regular surprises, and I&#8217;m actually a little sad about that. I have a strange mindset that says, &#8220;You can come up with more surprises. There are some surprises that I don&#8217;t even know what they are, but my reactions are what got me into the world, and the underlying aesthetic is the &#8220;beauty of being surprised. I will continue to accept surprises!</p>
