Yosuke Kubozuka’s Flashy Look Turns Heads at Tokyo Station Before Frontline Event
His fashion is also “King” level
Wearing a striking outfit—a pure white jacket paired with a Panama hat and a bright red T-shirt underneath—actor Yosuke Kubozuka (46) emerged alone from the Yaesu exit of Tokyo Station.
On the night of June 13, Kubozuka was scheduled to appear at the opening day stage greeting of his new film Frontline at a Tokyo theater. He traveled alone from his current base in Osaka to Tokyo for the event.
Frontline is based on true events aboard the luxury cruise ship Diamond Princess, which experienced a major COVID-19 outbreak in February 2020. Kubozuka plays Dr. Yukiyoshi Sendo, a frontline doctor handling the crisis aboard the ship.
Director Kousai Sekine praised Kubozuka in an official interview, saying, “Kubozuka-san’s mysterious aura adds depth to Sendo’s character.” Audience reactions on social media have been overwhelmingly positive, with comments like “Too cool!” and “I thought ‘King’ was the best, but this performance surpassed that!”
Kubozuka is famously remembered for his role as “King” in the 2000 TV drama Ikebukuro West Gate Park (IWGP), a charismatic character that left a strong impression. Fans often express their desire to see Kubozuka perform in a role reminiscent of “King” again, and this latest film has delivered a similarly powerful impact.
His off-screen fashion was just as striking and worthy of the “King” title. Along with the white jacket and red T-shirt, he carried a large silver suitcase topped with an equally bright red oversized bag. His unique style draws attention from the fashion world, and he continues to receive modeling offers, standing out like a true “King” in the big city.
At the evening stage greeting, Kubozuka expressed his passion for the film, saying:
“Usually when I do these stage greetings, I feel like, ‘Alright, see you later,’ and just send the movie off with a bye-bye feeling. But with this film, I genuinely want as many people as possible to watch it from tomorrow onward. It feels like I’m boarding the ship again.”
Don’t miss Kubozuka’s performance that goes beyond even his iconic “King” role.
