Suspect Allegedly Killed 4-Year-Old Sister

“I stabbed her with a kitchen knife.”

It was just before noon on June 20 when a man, covered in blood, turned himself in to the police.

By June 21, the Chiba Prefectural Police Matsudo East Station had arrested Fumiyasu Misu (33), an unemployed man from Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, on suspicion of murder. He is accused of fatally stabbing his sister, A—four years his senior—who lived in an apartment in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture.

“The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on June 20. Misu visited the apartment where his sister lived, and some kind of trouble must have arisen. He stabbed her multiple times in the chest and back with a knife. There were more than 10 stab wounds, some reportedly deep enough to reach her heart.

About 15 minutes after the crime, Misu turned himself in at a police box about 300 meters from the scene, saying, ‘I stabbed her with a kitchen knife.’ When officers rushed to the apartment, they found A lying in a pool of blood. She was immediately taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead,” said a reporter from a national newspaper’s social affairs desk.

He did not intend to kill her

Regarding the police investigation, Misu partially denied the charges, stating, “It’s true that I stabbed and killed [Ms. A], but I had no intent to kill.” He reportedly traveled from his home in Wakayama City to Tokyo by transferring between trains and taking the Shinkansen, then visited A’s apartment.

This magazine photographed Misu on June 22, immediately after his arrest, during his transfer to prosecutors. Behind round glasses, he stared coldly into the camera, revealing a chilling expression (related image). Former Kanagawa Prefectural Police detective and crime journalist Taihei Ogawa offered the following analysis:

“Given the number and depth of the stab wounds—reaching the heart—there appears to be strong intent to kill. If he deliberately stabbed deeply into the chest, where the heart is located, it’s hard to deny murderous intent. If the suspect brought the knife all the way from his home in Wakayama City, that also suggests premeditation.

This was likely not a spontaneous act, but a crime driven by deep resentment. The focus of the investigation going forward will be the motive. Understanding what kind of familial trouble existed between the siblings will be key to uncovering the full truth behind the incident.”

The residential neighborhood in Matsudo City where the crime occurred was thrown into temporary chaos as multiple police officers conducted their investigation.
