The June 19 issue of Shukan Bunshun reported on an alleged affair involving world-renowned tennis player Kei Nishikori (35). His rumored partner is model Azuki Oguchi (32), who has appeared in UNIQLO commercials.

“In 2015, at the peak of his career, Nishikori’s relationship with model Ako Mizuki (33)—who would later become his wife—came to light. Although it was a serious relationship, his parents reportedly disapproved of her, which is said to have delayed their marriage,” said a women’s magazine reporter.

Nevertheless, the couple stayed strong and got married in 2020. They were even blessed with a child and appeared to be building a happy home—until now.

“According to Bunshun, Nishikori and Oguchi met in December 2022. He currently lives in Florida, USA, but when he returned to Japan, he reportedly deepened their relationship at Oguchi’s apartment in Tokyo,” said a sports newspaper reporter.

Just as Nishikori is aggressive on the tennis court, he’s also passionate in love. The first time FRIDAY spotted this side of him was back in 2008. At the time, 18-year-old Nishikori was seen on a date in Harajuku with 20-year-old Ai Fukuhara, the idol of the table tennis world.

“They reportedly met during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The romance between Fukuhara—beloved since childhood as everyone’s Ai-chan—and Nishikori—who was rapidly gaining fame as the prince of the tennis world—came as a shock to the sports world,” said the same reporter.

Despite being younger, Nishikori confidently took the lead on the date. They were seen trying on training wear at a sports shop—an athlete-like outing—yet they also stopped at an aroma oil store, where they enjoyed smelling samples together.

The most striking moment was the passionate kiss they shared while waiting for the Yamanote Line on the Harajuku station platform. It was a bold display that one wouldn’t expect from a world-class athlete.

Time passed, and in December 2019, Nishikori was spotted again in Harajuku—this time with Ako Mizuki, with whom he was about to get married.

“In October that year, Nishikori held a party with close friends and announced his plans to get married. Since the official announcement was just around the corner, they were probably dating openly,” said a sports writer.

The two were seen walking closely together through the crowded Takeshita Street. At the time, Nishikori was in rehabilitation following elbow surgery, so Mizuki was the one pushing the bicycle as they walked.

They stopped at the Calbee flagship store to buy “Jagarico” snacks and munched on them together right outside—displaying their affectionate bond. There was even a moment where Nishikori wrapped his arm around Mizuki’s waist.

“He underwent hip surgery in 2022 and returned to competition the following year, but he hasn’t fully recovered. His current world ranking is 66th, and following his absence from the French Open, he also announced he will miss the Wimbledon Championships starting June 30 due to back pain. This affair scandal breaking under such circumstances may cast a dark shadow over his post-retirement plans,” the same writer added.
