Shirahama running on a sandy beach. The weather was so nice that I think the shot in the ocean looks great!” she said proudly.

Her expression is more mature now.

–How was the shoot in Chiba Prefecture?

Usually I shoot more mature images, but this time I felt like a fresh youth!

–What do you mean?

What do you mean? “We shot in a studio in a seaside town, so it had an outdoor atmosphere that I have never had before. We also filmed in a campervan. It was my first time doing that, so it was a lot of fun.”

–What was your favorite cut or outfit?

I think the one where she is wearing a striped swimsuit with embroidered flowers and a check shirt. It was so cute and matched well with the location near the ocean. I also like the navy bikini and the blouse with fluffy sleeves. It gives a quiet impression, so I hope you will take a look. I also wore knee-high socks, and I think I expressed both cuteness and sexiness.

–What was the most memorable moment for you?

The stylist who was in charge of my debut complimented me, saying that I had a more mature look! I wasn’t aware of it, but I wondered if it was because I had grown out my previously bobbed hair. I wasn’t aware of it, but I thought it might be because my hair had grown out from the bob haircut I had before (laughs). Not only my hair, but also my facial expression has become more mature, so I hope readers will check it out.

–How do you feel now that you graduated from high school this March?

How do you feel now that you graduated from high school in March? I am deeply moved when I think that I will no longer be photographed as a high school student.

–Was it difficult to balance your high school life with your gravure activities?

I had to miss class on the days of the shoot, so I had a hard time keeping up with my attendance. I had to ask my manager to adjust my schedule to make it work. But I think I was able to enjoy my limited high school days because I was so busy.”

–This past February, you won the Rookie of the Year Award at the “GRADEMY Awards,” a project commemorating the 40th anniversary of FRIDAY’s first issue. How did you feel about it?

I was really surprised! The gravure and photo books in FRIDAY remain in my memory, and they are very important works that have preserved the process of my growth. That’s why I was really happy to receive the award, and I am glad that I have done gravure.

–What is the secret of your body make-up?

When I take too much salt, not only my face, but also my stomach, legs, and arms tend to swell. So I try to cut back on salt before a shoot.

–Do you do any particular training?

Since graduating from high school, I have been spending more time at home, so recently I have been exercising using a myofascial roller. I also do some stretching on a yoga mat. I’m the type of person who doesn’t get out much, so I try to exercise at home.”

–What part of your body are you proud of?

I often receive compliments on the length of my legs. I wear compression socks until the very last minute before the shoot, and I am conscious of my posture in the car during transportation to prevent swelling. They look different depending on the outfit, but I want people to pay attention to my legs.

I sleep a lot anyway.”

–What do you do on your days off?

I love to sleep, so I sleep a lot (laughs). Also, I recently got a hamster, so I play with it. They are very cute!”

–I heard that you also enjoy watching YouTube.

I don’t have a favorite YouTuber, but I like to watch videos of live video games. I also often watch videos that show the ecology of living creatures.

–Are you interested in living creatures?

Yes, I am. I find the ecology of sea creatures and other non-human creatures very interesting. I also enjoy watching the hamsters I keep at home.

–What kind of work would you like to try in the future?

Until now, I have mainly worked in gravure, but from now on I would like to try my hand at acting. I want to do acting work in the future. I want to do plays that touch the hearts of people from all walks of life. I am also interested in voice acting.

–You have a cute voice like an anime character, don’t you?

I used to have a complex about my voice. I used to have a complex about my voice, and I hated hearing my own voice in making-of videos. But since I started gravure, I have received many compliments from fans, which made me want to try my hand at voice acting.

–Lastly, do you have a message for our readers?

I didn’t expect to be on the cover of FRIDAY for the sixth time. This photo will be the last time I will be on the cover of ″Shirahama as a high school girl,″ so I hope you can feel my growth!

I get a lot of compliments on the length of my legs!” She said her favorite part of the outfit was the “outdoorsy and cute impression. Her beautiful legs, which she mentioned as her favorite part, are eye-catching.

Mieu Shirahama, age 18.
She is from Tottori Prefecture. She won three special awards at the “Bishojo Zukan AWARD 2023. Since her debut, she has been popular for her innocent looks and outstanding style.’ In 2013, she won the Rookie of the Year Award at the “GRADEMY AWARD,” a project celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first issue of FRIDAY.

My Best Recent “Book
Kanae Minato.

Originally, I really like to gain knowledge that I don’t know. That is also the reason why I like the ecology of living things. For the same reason, I also like reading, and I read novels in my spare time. I like mystery novels in particular, and I have many of Kanae Minato’s works on hand. Her style is not cheerful, but I often find myself thinking about them after I finish reading them. I hope to continue reading her works.
