In 2026, the theatrical version of “Kyoushou” starring Takuya Kimura is set to be produced. Fans are curious about who will co-star alongside him.

The studio’s schedule is also prioritizing “Kyoushou.”

Finally, things are moving—

It has been officially announced that the popular TV series Kyoushou (Fuji TV), starring actor Takuya Kimura (52), will be released as a theatrical movie in 2026.

The work is based on the novel of the same name by Hiroki Nagaoka. It first debuted as a two-part special drama in January 2020, which received high praise. Following this, Kyoushou II aired as another two-part special in January 2021, and Kazama Kimichika – Kyoushou 0 was broadcast as a full drama series in April 2023.

Kimura plays the one-eyed, strict instructor Kimichika Kazama. The role, a dark hero that overturns Kimura’s usual image, became a hot topic.

“The sequel to Kyoushou was scheduled to film in 2023 but was postponed. This year, production suddenly picked up pace, and the project, initially planned as a series, was switched midway into a movie. It’s said to become a two-part film,” said a TV station insider.

Fuji TV has been in a serious crisis since a series of scandals involving former talent Masahiro Nakai (52) and his troubles with women. To overcome this pinch, they put their hopes on Kimura.

“Last year, Fuji had hits with two spin-off films of the Bayside Shakedown series, which focused on Toshirō Yanagiba. Riding on that success, they rushed to make Kyoushou into a theatrical film. Fuji’s enthusiasm is high, and the schedule at their adjacent Wangan Studio is reportedly prioritizing Kyoushou,” the insider added.

Aside from Kimura, the cast has drawn attention as well. The first installment featured Haruna Kawaguchi and Daigo Nishihata from Naniwa Danshi, while Kyoushou II included popular young actors like Ren Meguro and Gordon Maeda from Snow Man.

Based on past trends, it is highly likely that actors from STARTO ENTERTAINMENT will be cast alongside Kimura. On social media, names such as Shori Sato from Timeless, Ken Kojima from Aぇ! group, and Ryusei Fujii from WEST. have been mentioned as potential student roles.

Furthermore, Shuri (34), the daughter of actor Yutaka Mizutani—who has recently been in the spotlight due to marriage rumors—is also reportedly on the casting list for the project.

Speaking of Shuri, she was recently reported to have married Ryoki Miyama, an actor and member of the seven-member group BE:FIRST. At the same time, Miyama was revealed by the magazine Shukan Bunshun to have had past marriage troubles, which he has since acknowledged and apologized for. He has left his agency and is now working independently.

No scandals so far—“Only Kimura Takuya wins.”

Regarding Miyama’s past scandal, Shuri initially was shocked, (according to an entertainment industry insider) but their determination to overcome difficulties together remains unchanged.

Among people on set,

“If Mr. Kimura could offer some warm advice, it might encourage her,” there are hopeful voices.

Kimura himself married singer Shizuka Kudo at the height of his popularity in 2000. They had their first daughter, Cocomi, in 2001, and their second daughter, Koki, in 2003. At that time, the internet and social media were not yet widespread, but there was some criticism about the sudden marriage of such a top idol.

“Still, Mr. Kimura remained steadfast and built a harmonious home with Ms. Kudo, fulfilling his responsibilities as a father of two. Because of this, he is highly respected in the industry and people say, ‘Only Kimura Takuya wins.’ For Shuri, who is about to start her own family, he will be a good role model,” said a sports newspaper entertainment reporter.

In Kyoushou, Kimura plays the strict instructor and maintains a tense atmosphere on set by minimizing conversation with the young actors playing students. On the other hand, he stays on set after his scenes to support other actors, showing great consideration.

Co-stars and staff place their full trust in the professional Kimura, and filming progresses smoothly under the “Kimura team.”

When asked about Shuri’s casting in the Kyoushou movie, Fuji TV replied,

“We do not comment on production details.”

The much-anticipated movie adaptation of Kimura Takuya’s Kyoushou is finally underway. Which actors will join to support him remains to be seen—
