<p> The man who was holed up in the apartment shouted these words and threatened the surrounding police officers.</p>

<p> On May 20, the Investigation Department of the Chiba Prefectural Police arrested an unemployed suspect, Futabashi City resident Futoshi Wada, 32, on suspicion of confinement. The suspect Wada holed up in a room in his apartment that morning, holding his mother (59) and sister (27), who lived with him, hostage. He loudly threatened the surrounding investigators.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> The suspect and his brother, who lives with him, called 110 and said, &#8216;He&#8217;s holed up in his room with a kitchen knife,'&#8221; the police said. The suspect Wada was holed up in a room about 7 tatami mats in size with a kitchen knife.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> At first, he did not respond to the police&#8217;s attempts to persuade him over the phone, but instead said, &#8220;I&#8217;m going to kill (his mother and sister)! But about seven hours later, at 1:30 p.m., he surrendered. He left the room saying, &#8220;I give up. When police officers examined the scene, they found signs that kerosene had been sprayed on them, but no one was injured.</span></p>

<p> The Wada suspect&#8217;s family moved into the apartment where the crime scene took place about three to four years ago. The neighbors were not impressed with the family.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> Some residents had seen the mother and sister out and about, but no one had seen Wada. It seems that he had no job and was holed up in his apartment. As for the motive for the crime, Wada told the police, &#8220;I was listening to music in the living room, and my mother warned me about it, which made me angry. There may have been some kind of trouble between family members.</span></p>
<p> The photographer for this magazine photographed Wada&#8217;s visit to the police station on May 21, immediately after his arrest. He looked emotionless and turned a cold gaze toward the camera.</p>

<p><span class="strongInContent"> From a mother&#8217;s point of view, if you have a son in his thirties who is not working and is just hanging around at home, you might want to warn him. If the suspect is unemployed, the family&#8217;s lifestyle is probably not well-off.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> The suspect also probably had a dark heart, depressed about staying at home. He may have been upset when his mother pointed out his faults. This crime is not a stranger to the family. If the suspect&#8217;s frustration is directed not at his family but at the outside world, he may become selfishly angry and say, &#8216;It&#8217;s society&#8217;s fault that I&#8217;m having a hard time,&#8217; which could lead to indiscriminate killings.</span></p>
<p> The incident caused the residents of the apartment building to evacuate temporarily. All events scheduled to take place in nearby parks and other places were canceled.</p>
