26-Year-Old Man Arrested for Lewd Acts on High School Girls, Claimed 40 Sent Him Nude Photos

When the police officers entered the house to search it, they saw an unbelievable sight. The suspect was allegedly performing lewd acts on a high school girl.
By May 13, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Setagaya Police Station arrested Yawata Reiya (26), a company employee living in Adachi Ward, Tokyo, on suspicion of child prostitution. He is said to have performed lewd acts on a 17-year-old high school girl, A, at his home, knowing that she was under the age of 18.
“It seems that Yawata had been getting to know many high school girls through social media for about two years and had been requesting that they send him nude pictures. The police got wind of Yawata’s illegal activities and when they searched his home for a different reason, they found Ms. A at his home.” (National newspaper social affairs reporter)
Yawata is said to have admitted to the crimes, making the following statement:
“I wanted to see the body of a girl I liked. I also had 30 to 40 other people send me nude pictures.”
“Digital tattoos can ruin your life.”
Suspect Yawata reportedly invited Ms. A to his home using a shocking lure.
“He told Ms. A, ‘I’ll pay you 25 million yen to meet,’ but it seems he never paid the promised money. He also demanded that Ms. A send nude images,” said the same source.
On May 14, our photographer captured Yawata being sent to prosecutors. He kept his head down the entire time and showed no expression behind his mask.
Crime journalist and former Kanagawa Prefectural Police detective Taihei Ogawa explains:
“If he was committing lewd acts with a high school girl at home, the suspect may have escalated his crimes. Initially, he probably used hotels, but after realizing he wouldn’t get caught, he likely switched to using his own home, which costs nothing. The victims might have feared threats from the suspect using the nude images they sent, which prevented them from confiding in family or police.
Obviously, sending nude images to strangers just because they offer money is extremely dangerous. Even if the original images are deleted, they can be spread online and remain forever as digital tattoos, potentially ruining one’s life. Meeting an unknown man who contacted you via social media alone is even more reckless. It can lead to worse troubles such as confinement or assault.”
The police are investigating further, suspecting Yawata may have additional offenses.
