Hiromitsu Kitayama Caught in Akihabara! Maid Café Flyer in Hand, Eyes Set on July Drama Shoot

Around midday in mid-April, Akihabara’s Electric Town was bustling with foreign tourists and shoppers. Amidst the crowd stood a strikingly handsome man, Hiromitsu Kitayama (39).
In the midst of the bustling street, Kitayama cast sharp, watchful glances around him as if being cautious. What could he be up to? Just then, two women dressed as maids approached with light, bouncy steps. One of them handed Kitayama a flyer. Staring intently at it, Kitayama accepted it.
Wait, seriously!? Is he about to head to a maid café alone!?
“Actually, this was a location shoot for a July-season drama. Starting about a month ago, he’s been popping up guerrilla-style in Akihabara and Kanda for filming. His co-star, Misato Ugaki (34), has also been filming frequently in this area. There’s been quite a bit of buzz on X (formerly Twitter) about sightings of the two, and some of Kitayama’s fans have even been coming around to look for him,” says a clerk from a local street-side shop in Akihabara.
Even on this day, while some people noticed there was filming going on, hardly anyone realized that the man blending into the crowd was Kitayama himself. Still, there were reportedly a few female fans watching him from a distance.
Since transferring to TOBE in September 2023, Kitayama’s career has been nothing but smooth sailing. That November, he released his first digital single “RANSHIN”, marking his solo debut. Since then, he’s dropped four digital singles. Last year, he embarked on a national live tour, “HIROMITSU KITAYAMA ‘ZOO’”, which proved so popular that tickets sold out immediately — drawing about 65,000 fans across 15 shows in 9 cities.
“On May 1, IMP., an idol group under TOBE, opened their first starring stage production, ‘IMPACT,’ at Misonoza Theater in Nagoya. The stage show is widely considered to be a revival of the ‘Takizawa Kabuki’ performances that TOBE president Hideaki Takizawa (43) was passionate about during his Johnny’s days. The show’s ending theme is IMP.’s new track ‘Yui,’ with lyrics penned by Kitayama and music composed by Takizawa. It’s a testament to how highly Takizawa values Kitayama’s talent,” notes a reporter from a sports entertainment paper.
On April 4, Kitayama also launched his new show “Hiromitsu Kitayama NEW WORLD” (Fuji TV TWO Drama & Anime). In it, Kitayama heads out on location to try things he’s always wanted to do and explore new worlds. His acting career is thriving as well — it’s been announced he’ll appear in a stage adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s classic film “Drunken Angel” this November.
And now, with this upcoming July drama, Kitayama is keeping busy as ever. We can’t wait to see what kind of performance he delivers next.
