Boldly, with no disguise!

One night in late April, as the long holiday began and a festive mood filled the air, a couple was walking closely together through one of Tokyo’s top subculture sanctuaries— an area known for its cluster of small theaters.

Both wore round glasses; the man sported a camel-colored beret. The woman gently leaned close to him as he gazed at the sign of a famous grilled fish skewer shop. Known as a hotspot for street fashion trends, this neighborhood was illuminated by the unique aura of actor Tokio Emoto (35) and actor-musician Honami Sato (35).

“Emoto-san is a pedigree actor, with his father being Akira Emoto (76) and his late mother Kazue Tsunogae (passed away at 64), both established actors. He is a distinctive actor who shows a unique presence across both film and stage. Sato-san is not only an actor but also a multi-talented artist who plays drums for the band ‘Gesu no Kiwami Otome’ under the name Hona Ikoka. In recent years, she has gained high praise for her acting, including her role in the NHK Taiga drama ‘Kamakura-dono no 13-nin.’

The two co-starred last summer in the drama ‘Kinshicho Paradise ~ Shibuya kara Ippon ~’ (TV Tokyo), which Emoto produced. Since then, they have grown closer and started dating,” said a reporter covering entertainment for a sports newspaper.

Satou’s fluorescent bag was eye-catching.

Is tying the knot close?

FRIDAY Digital scooped a cozy shopping scene last fall of the two near Emoto’s home at a convenience store. After leaving the store, Emoto and Sato headed toward his residence. It seems they had already started dating at that time.

Now, back to the opening scene — after staring at the fish shop’s sign for about 20 seconds, perhaps growing impatient, Sato gently tugged on Emoto’s sleeve. Taking that as a signal, they intertwined their fingers in a lover’s grip and walked away together.

After exchanging some words, they intertwined their fingers as in the beginning.

Their relationship is going smoothly. Could their tying the knot be near?

FRIDAY Digital reached out to both through their agencies to inquire about their intentions regarding marriage, but no response was received by the deadline.

“Emoto-san is scheduled to star in the play ‘Crying Romeo and Angry Juliet,’ which starts in July. Since childhood, he used to head to small theaters after school to watch his father Akira’s performances instead of going home. Acting is truly a part of his life. Being such a disciplined man, it’s unlikely he will get married at least until his lead role in the play is over,” said a theater insider.

This uniquely individual couple in the entertainment world will probably continue walking their own path without breaking their unique rhythm.
