On April 25, the &#8220;12 (Wannyann) Peace Party,&#8221; which had just been established this February by Dewi Fujin (85) in preparation for the July Upper House election, announced its disbandment on the party&#8217;s official website.
One of the reasons was that Dewi Fujin had been referred to the public prosecutor’s office on April 16 on suspicion of assaulting a female staff member. FRIDAY Digital had obtained information about the incident in advance and conducted a direct interview with her. Based on an article published on March 27, 2025, we look back on the details.

<h2>Threw a champagne glass at a female employee</h2>
On February 12, a political group called the &#8220;12 (Wannyann) Peace Party,&#8221; which set pet welfare for animals like dogs and cats as its main policy, was established. At the press conference, Dewi Fujin, who was appointed as the party representative, declared:
&#8220;As the culmination of my life, I intend to make a mark in the political world.&#8221;
She also announced her intention to run in the proportional representation race in the Upper House election this summer. However, behind the scenes, Dewi Fujin was reportedly involved in a troubling incident.
&#8220;I’ve heard that in mid-February, Dewi Fujin assaulted a female employee of her personal office,&#8221;
confided an executive at a talent agency.
&#8220;At a dinner gathering held at a restaurant, it seems Dewi Fujin threw a champagne glass at the female employee. Apparently, the woman had opposed Dewi’s decision to run in the Upper House election, and things got heated. The female employee consulted the police and filed a damage report,&#8221; the executive said.
Amid this controversy, Dewi Fujin appeared at the Shibuya Police Station a little after 1:30 p.m. on March 22. She was seen alone in the back seat of a van believed to be a police vehicle, entering the station.

<h2>A thorough interrogation lasting over five hours</h2>
Dewi Fujin reappeared after 6:30 p.m. When the same vehicle emerged from the basement of the Shibuya Police Station, she was sitting alone in the back seat. A FRIDAY Digital reporter attempted to ask her about the alleged assault on the female employee, but she didn’t even glance in their direction as the car drove away.
&#8220;The police conducted a voluntary questioning that day. From here, they’ll carefully continue their investigation and decide whether or not to refer the case to the prosecutors. Usually, questioning takes about one to two hours, but five hours suggests they questioned her quite thoroughly. If she is sent to prosecutors and indicted, it would have a significant impact on both the Upper House election and her new political party,&#8221; said a reporter from a TV news department.
The day after the questioning, FRIDAY Digital conducted a doorstep interview with Dewi Fujin as she returned home.
— Is it true that you assaulted a female employee?
&#8220;No, it’s not.&#8221;
— On March 22, you were questioned at the Shibuya Police Station. What did you talk about?
&#8220;I can’t really talk about that, I’m sorry.&#8221;
With that, she went inside her home.
The outlet once again contacted Dewi Fujin’s personal office for comment.
&#8220;The person in charge will get back to you,&#8221;
They said — but even after two days, no response came.

<h2>Naturalization status uncertain following referral to prosecutors</h2>
At the age of 85, Dewi Fujin had assumed the role of leader of a new political party and expressed her ambition to run in the Upper House election. However, as mentioned earlier, on April 16 it was revealed that she had been referred to prosecutors by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police on suspicion of assault. In the investigation, she reportedly denied the allegation, saying:
&#8220;I did not throw any glasses or the like.&#8221;
Nevertheless, as a result of this incident, the 12 (Wannyann) Peace Party was dissolved. According to Sports Hochi (April 25 report), a party executive stated that one of the reasons was that the referral to prosecutors has made it difficult for her naturalization application to move forward.
Dewi Fujin currently holds Indonesian citizenship, and in order to run in the election, she would need to obtain Japanese nationality through a naturalization process. It had been reported that she was already proceeding with the application, but in light of this situation — including the prospects of receiving approval — things have become uncertain.
This incident has effectively ended her political career before it began, but a commercial TV network insider predicts it won’t affect her status as a celebrity.
&#8220;When you get right down to it, this was a personal dispute within her circle, so I expect the public’s interest will die down quickly. I don’t think she’ll disappear from television.&#8221;
It’s an undeniably resilient stance — but the fact remains that she caused a public scandal. One hopes she will take the time to reflect on her actions.
