25-Year-Old Man Steals High School Girl’s Underwear
Two high school girls were poisoned.
“I thought I wanted to smell the scent of panties.”
Suddenly, a man who had approached a high school girl on a night street saying “Take off your panties” reportedly stated this as his motive during police interrogation.
“On October 29, 2024, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s Shakujii Station arrested defendant Tomohiko Ito (25) on charges of non-consensual sexual intercourse and robbery for committing obscene acts on a high school girl, Ms. A, on the street on September 11 and stealing her underwear. Subsequent investigations revealed that another high school girl, Ms. B, had also been victimized by Ito three days earlier, on September 8.
The prosecution has indicted Ito on charges of non-consensual sexual acts and robbery against Ms. A, and attempted non-consensual sexual acts against Ms. B,” said a reporter from a national newspaper’s social affairs department.
On April 14, 2025, the Tokyo District Court held the first trial for defendant Ito regarding the cases of A and B. During the trial, Ito’s heinous actions were revealed through the indictment and other documents. First, the prosecutor presented the circumstances of the incident involving B, stating the following.
“On September 8, 2024, before 8:00 p.m., the defendant spotted Ms. B (then 17 years old) walking in front of him at the station nearest his home, and became sexually interested in her, thinking, ‘I want to smell her pants. The defendant followed Ms. B, hoping to find an opportunity to talk to her, suddenly shouted at her to ‘be quiet.’
When the startled Ms. B ran away, Mr. Ito chased after her and told her not to make any noise and to take off her pants. He also forced Ms. B to remove her underwear. However, when Ms. B ran away, Ito left the scene and went home.”
The statement by Ms. B, which the prosecutor read aloud during the trial, reflected the emotional distress that Ms. B was still experiencing due to the shock of the incident.
“After the incident, I became afraid to walk outside for several days. I became afraid to walk outside at night, so I started asking my parents to take me to and from cram school. I want the perpetrator to properly reflect on the crime they committed and understand that what they did was wrong.”
According to the prosecutor, three days after the attempted indecency against Ms. B, around 6 p.m. on September 11, the defendant, Ito, left his home while wearing vinyl gloves, likely intending to hunt for another victim from the outset.

Next, regarding the circumstances of Ms. A’s case, the prosecutor made the following statement:
“The defendant found Ms. A (then 16 years old) on her way home at around 6:20 pm. The defendant was sexually interested in Ms. A. He thought, ‘I want to smell her pants,’ etc., and waited for an opportunity to commit the crime.
When Ms. A tried to escape, he chased her and dragged her to a secluded area, continuing to demand, ‘If you don’t want to be killed, take off your panties. I want to smell them.’ He forcibly took her underwear, sniffed it for several seconds, and then touched her lower body and continued to smell it.”
When Ms. A asked for help from an acquaintance who happened to be passing by, Ito panicked and fled the scene.
The defendant, Ito, took careful measures to avoid leaving fingerprints, such as wearing vinyl gloves in advance, and carefully planned the crime. However, his actions were captured on numerous security cameras. Some even recorded Ito hiding behind a utility pole ahead of Ms. A’s path.
While Ito admitted to the crime against Mr. B, he denied part of the crime against Ms. A.
“I did not use the words ‘If you don’t want to be killed.’ Also, I did not touch Ms. A’s body.”
