In early April, around 11 p.m. in Akasaka (Minato Ward), a crowd had gathered in a bustling nightlife district popular with salarymen. After a while, a woman emerged from a nearby building, surrounded by strong, bodyguard-like foreign men, prompting the assembled people to rush toward her.

The woman was 25-year-old Gracie Abrams—an American singer-songwriter currently gaining worldwide attention as a next-generation icon.

The single ‘That’s So True’ from the album is a global smash. Her father is famed director J.J. Raised among Hollywood celebrities, Gracie is close with fashion icons like Cara Delevingne (32) and Camila Morrone (27), and is especially well-known as a best friend of Taylor Swift (35). Last year, she opened for Taylor’s The Eras Tour. Their co-written song ‘us.’ was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards.
