“I felt like I became a new version of myself.”

Yurano Ochi (26), a model, actress, and YouTuber who is active in multiple fields, made her debut in the current issue of FRIDAY magazine, showcasing her delicate and beautiful body.

During her time as an exclusive model for the fashion magazine Popteen, she gained overwhelming support alongside Nicole Fujita and Miyu Ikeda, and continues to be admired as a charismatic figure in her twenties.

“I’ve had many friends who have appeared in FRIDAY’s gravure, like Nicole (Fujita) and Asuka (Kawazu), and I often heard stories from them. I’m so happy to be joining the group!”

“I always thought that FRIDAY had the most sophisticated gravure compared to other magazines, so I was looking forward to being photographed in a chic, elegant way. After the shoot, I felt like I was photographed even more beautifully than I imagined, and it felt like I was able to show a new side of myself.”

Yurano Ochi, who usually approaches her fashion shoots with the intention of making clothes look beautiful, mentions that gravure shoots are completely different from fashion shoots.

“Gravure shoots are totally different from fashion magazine shoots in terms of posing and what you need to focus on, and I was surprised. In gravure, it’s about very precise adjustments, like if I tense this part of my body, the lines will look more beautiful or if I move my waist a few millimeters forward, and the results turn out completely different, which is fascinating.”

Her slender and beautiful body, a hallmark of her modeling career, might seem to be the result of daily effort, but is it really?

“I got advice from friends like Nicole (Fujita) and Asuka (Kawazu), who have gravure experience, telling me ‘It’s better not to be too skinny before a gravure shoot.’ So, I didn’t do any special exercise or diet and just went into today’s shoot relaxed (laughs).”

“When I was in my teens, my body and face were really round, and I never thought about doing gravure! But once I turned 20, I naturally lost weight, and I’ve been able to maintain it without forcing anything. I’m really grateful that I could gravure at the most beautiful time in my life.”

“I tend to gain weight when I’m stressed or troubled, but when I’m happy, I lose weight (laughs). Since entering my 20s, work has been fulfilling, and I’ve been having happy days, so I think that’s why I’ve naturally been able to maintain my best state.”

“My face looks too pale.”

When it comes to Ochi, her trademark is her incredibly clear and fair skin. She often gets asked by fans about her skincare routine, but she laughs and says, “Honestly, it’s just my body type. I really have to thank my parents.”

“I don’t usually apply sunscreen even in summer. Only when I go abroad or to the beach do I put it on, to avoid getting burned. Other than that, I don’t really do anything special to stay fair. But, because of that, my skin is thin and sensitive, so I make sure to moisturize thoroughly.”

Yurano Ochi says, “My close friend Mio Horikawa is also very fair-skinned, and since our skin types are similar, we often get into beauty talks. We recommend things like ‘This pack is great!’ to each other, and share information about hobbies and things we like, like tea leaves that we’ve tried and enjoyed.”

Though there are many benefits to having such fair skin, she admits it can also be troublesome at times.

“Fair skin is said to conceal seven flaws, so I feel like my skin concerns have mostly been solved. And of course, when people say ‘You have such a translucent complexion,’ it’s always nice. But there are some downsides—like when I do a photoshoot with someone else and my face gets washed out because my skin is too white. It happens quite often (laughs).”

Her cheerful smile gives off a youthful vibe. When asked what she wants to try in 2025, she shares her ambitions:

“I want to try fishing! After that, I’d like to try cooking the fish I catch. I love cooking, especially Japanese cuisine, so I think it would be fun to prepare the fish I catch by simmering or grilling it. I also love driving, so I’d like to stay active in the spring and beyond.”
