On March 12, &#8220;WEST.&#8221; released their album &#8220;A.H.O. -Audio Hang Out-&#8221; which topped the &#8220;Oricon Weekly Album Ranking&#8221; (dated March 24). However, its first-week sales recorded 183,000 copies, significantly lower than the 234,000 copies sold in the first week of their previous album &#8220;AWARD,&#8221; released in March 2024.
Amid concerns over the group&#8217;s declining popularity, one member has been receiving praise online.
&#8220;WEST.&#8221; will celebrate its 10th CD debut anniversary on April 23, 2024, and has become a solid mid-level group within STARTO ENTERTAINMENT. Amidst this, one member of the group, Daiki Shigeoka, who serves as the center, has been receiving high praise online. In the movie 35th Year Love Letter (released March 7), starring comedian Shofukutei Tsurube, Shigeoka plays the younger version of the protagonist, Yasushi Nishihata (played by Tsurube), who cannot read or write. After watching the film, online users have commented:
&#8220;After watching 35th Year Love Letter, I think Daiki Shigeoka from WEST. is a genius and should be called an actor of that level. I want to see more of his acting.&#8221; 
&#8220;Shigeoka in 35th Year Love Letter was amazing—his acting was so good, it didn’t even seem like acting.&#8221; 
&#8220;Shigeoka&#8217;s portrayal of young Yasushi, the character who can’t write, was so incredible. The frustration and misery of being unable to write came through, and it made me feel uncomfortable.&#8221;
