Former Announcer Kanon Aoki Reveals Her Dismissal Amid Fuji TV Whistleblowing—Agency Speaks Out
Not allowed to leave until satisfying them with kisses and touching
Former announcer and YouTuber Kanon Aoki (32) made headlines in January after revealing that she had been sexually victimized by staff from the same TV station, following reports of a woman-related scandal involving Masahiro Nakai (52) late last year. On March 7, she disclosed on X that she is still in conflict with her agency, causing further controversy.
In January, Aoki posted:
“I was often made to ride in the car of an influential person who worked on multiple Fuji TV productions. I wasn’t allowed to get out until I satisfied them with kisses and touching. If I refused, they would get angry. At the time, I was mentally unstable and had to take medication before each meeting.”
She later explained the situation in detail in a YouTube video, where she also mentioned that her agency might terminate her contract.
Then, on March 7, Aoki revealed:
“I’m in a huge fight with my agency.”
She continued, sharing an alleged exchange with her agency:
“(Agency) If you speak out about the Fuji TV issue, we’ll fire you! Our company can’t survive without working with TV networks!”
(Me) That’s fine. Even if you try to silence me, I will speak up!”
However, after she revealed in a video that the agency was considering terminating her contract, the backlash was severe. She claims the agency’s attitude then shifted dramatically:
“(Agency) Suddenly changes tone We won’t fire you over the Fuji TV allegations. We realize we may have caused misunderstandings, so let’s talk again. How is your health?”
When Aoki responded that she was fine with being released from her contract, the agency replied that they were not considering termination due to the incident, but if Aoki herself wanted to terminate the contract, they would proceed.
To Aoki, this response seemed like an attempt to shift the narrative.
We are not considering terminating the contract
“If she was truly told, ‘If you talk about Fuji TV, you’ll be fired,’ then this situation perfectly symbolizes the current ‘Nakai-Fuji TV issue.’ Women were forced to participate in these distorted drinking parties while gauging the reactions of Fuji TV executives and popular talents. If Aoki’s claims are true, then instead of silencing their own talent who was victimized, the agency should have lodged a strong complaint against Fuji TV. The fact that they couldn’t do so highlights the power dynamics between TV networks and talent agencies,” said a wide show editor.
If the agency weighed the money their talent earns against the amount of work they receive from TV stations and ultimately chose to suppress the disclosure of the harm suffered, then their actions would be highly malicious.
In response, we contacted “Mitsuzo Ishii Office,” the agency Aoki Kanon belongs to.
— On March 7, Aoki revealed on X that she is in conflict with her agency. Is this true?
“(Aoki) has been making accusations and statements since January, but there is no way we would terminate her contract because of that. As an agency, we have never even considered it. It is true that we never intended to terminate the contract from the beginning, but we regret that our way of listening and speaking may have made it seem otherwise.
It appears that she made another post about this issue last night (March 7), but as for whether it was an argument, we haven’t had the chance to meet her and discuss it in detail, so we are not entirely sure. However, we sincerely regret that Aoki felt this way. To be honest, we haven’t had the opportunity to have a thorough discussion with her yet.”
— Aoki claims she was told, “If you talk about Fuji TV, you’ll be fired! Our company can’t survive without working with TV!” Is this true?
“I don’t believe that to be the case. At least from what I have heard, no such statement was made, and we are not considering terminating her contract over this issue.”
Thus, the agency responded.
Aoki has now exposed not only the Fuji TV scandal but also her conflict with her agency. What will happen next?
