A kiss as a punishment… An “Osaka Attender” reveals the reality of “drinking parties with female announcers and big-name comedians from TV stations in Osaka.

Producers would take female TV announcers to drinking parties in an attempt to win over the bigwigs. Such drinking parties are commonplace not only in Tokyo but also at TV stations in the Kansai region. And in the midst of such drinking parties, all sorts of trouble is happening.

Mr. Takashi Yamada (a pseudonym), a so-called “attendant” who “accompanies” women to drinking parties with people in the entertainment industry, says, “There are a lot of problems happening at these drinking parties. Mr. Yamada has been attending to women in downtown Osaka for more than 10 years.

I have been approached by many people asking me to call girls, but in my case, the people I have called most often are the producers of TV stations in Osaka. I would call on gravure idols and aspiring stage actresses, and I also introduced many of the station’s announcers I knew. We would start at 8 pm at the earliest. Inevitably, we would run out of last trains because we would be running late. Then the “guest of honor” of the party would take the girl home in a cab.

When we asked Mr. Yamada why he decided to make this confession, he said, “I first became aware of the bizarre nature of this practice after seeing the problems surrounding Mr. Nakai (Masahiro, 52). Perhaps driven by a sense of remorse, he said, “I have attended about 50 to 60 drinking parties where female announcers are present. Some were there for business purposes, and of course others had some kind of ulterior motive,” he began.

Kissing during a drinking session

The first time he revealed the actual situation was at a drinking party held in a dimly lit bar in Shinsaibashi (Chuo Ward, Osaka City) in early December ’22. The initiator was a producer in the variety division of a local TV station. Among the participants were announcer A (in his 30s) and several people from entertainment agencies, and the main guest was X (in his 60s), a well-known and well-liked comedian in the Kansai region.

At the time, X and A had no programs that overlapped, and the purpose of the meeting was not to launch a show, but just a “drinking party. Mr. X is married with a child, but he didn’t care, he just sat next to Ana and enjoyed hugging her shoulders and touching her legs.

After some more time passed, they started kissing. It seemed that it was a punishment for losing the game, and Ana A. kissed Ms. X on the cheek. The producer was there, but he didn’t seem to stop them even though they were announcers from his own station. Mr. X was in a good mood and said, ‘I’m going to take this girl home! and they got into a cab together.

The February 20 issue of “FRIDAY March 7” and the pay-per-view “FRIDAY GOLD” magazines detail the “late-night karaoke” with female announcers that Mr. Yamada witnessed, as well as the backstage of a drinking party attended by a big-name comedian who also serves as MC for several key stations.
