Kazuya Kamenashi Spotted in Tokyo Before Retirement Exuding Star Power
Even as he walked through the restaurant with a downcast expression, the aura of a star radiated from him.
On February 12, it was announced that “KAT-TUN” would disband at the end of March. Kazuya Kamenashi (38) would leave STARTO ENTERTAINMENT on the same day. Tatsuya Ueda (41) and Yuichi Nakamaru (41) would remain and continue their solo activities.
The photo shows Kamenashi stopping by a hidden, French restaurant in Tokyo on a particularly cold day. He appeared to be a regular, not disguising himself and acting naturally.
Discussions about the group’s disbandment had been ongoing for about a year and a half, so by this time, the decision to disband was likely already set.
“KAT-TUN,” which had been active for 25 years, debuted as a six-member group in March 2006. They exuded a wild, dazzling vibe that set them apart from traditional idols. However, with a series of member departures, the group had been performing with just Kamenashi and two others since 2018.
“They kindly sent it.”
On a recent episode of Akko ni Omakase! (TBS), MC Akiko Wada (74) shared a story about receiving a phone call from Kamenashi, in which he mentioned that he had been kindly sent off, emphasizing that his departure from the company was amicable.
Now free, Kamenashi’s next steps are of interest, especially regarding his relationship with his girlfriend, freelance announcer Minami Tanaka (38). The two started dating in the fall of 2023 after a conversation for a beauty magazine.
“Some media outlets are speculating that Kamenashi’s decision to leave might be tied to marriage with Tanaka. Kamenashi’s birthday, February 23, is being mentioned as the ‘X-Day,’ but since he was still with STARTO ENTERTAINMENT at that time, it seems unlikely. However, with Tanaka nearing 40, she might not want to wait too long. It could happen after his new life begins in April, or perhaps around Tanaka’s birthday in November,” said an entertainment industry insider.
Fans might soon experience a Kame-loss as well, as the day of his departure draws nearer.
