On January 22, Haruna Yatsuka, 29, a nurse in Shizugawa, Toon City, Ehime Prefecture, was arrested by the Otsu Kita Police Station of the Shiga Prefectural Police on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse and indecent kidnapping. Yatsuka is suspected of taking a junior high school boy (15 at the time) living in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, to a hotel in the same city and engaging in sexual intercourse with him.

The two met through a game distribution application last August. As they continued to exchange chats, Yatsuka wanted to meet the junior high school student and arranged to meet him in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, where the junior high school student lived. In October of last year, Yatsuka went from Toon City, Ehime Prefecture, to Otsu City, about 360 km away, and after meeting the junior high school student, Yatsuka invited him to a hotel and pressed him to have physical relations with him.

Yatsuka took the minor, who was not yet capable of sound judgment, to a hotel as soon as they met. The crime was premeditated.

Yatsuka had reserved a hotel room in Otsu City in advance, and as soon as he met the junior high school student at the meeting place, he went straight to the hotel. They stayed together until the next morning. It is unclear whether or not Yatsuka had romantic feelings for the suspect, but he admitted to the police: “It is true (that we had a physical relationship). There is no doubt about it.

The parents of the junior high school student, concerned that their son had not returned home and could not be contacted, consulted the police. They filed a missing persons report. When the boy returned home the next day, his family asked him about the situation and discovered that he had had a physical relationship with the Yatsuka suspect. When questioned by the police, the junior high school student told them the whole story about what Yatsuka had done to him in his room.

When the police investigated the exchange between the two, they found that Yatsuka had approached the junior high school student and said, “Let’s meet,” and that he had gone to see her for the purpose of having sexual intercourse with her. We determined that the suspect Yatsuka’s actions constituted a visit and kidnapping of a boy under the age of 16 for indecent purposes. One is charged with a crime simply by requesting to meet a boy or girl under the age of 16 for the purpose of indecent acts, not to mention physical relations,” said the aforementioned investigator.

The boy, still a minor, has fallen prey to the selfish desires of the Yatsuka suspect.
