“I’m kind of looking forward to getting my drink on.”

When asked, “Are you good at interviews?” Sara Kawamichi quietly replied, “I’m not very good at them.”

She rose to fame through the romance reality show Kyou, Suki ni Narimashita. and later made her gravure debut, paving her own unique path. Now, she is set to celebrate her 20th birthday on February 14.

The latest issue of FRIDAY features an exclusive photoshoot of her just before the Coming-of-Age Ceremony.

“I don’t really feel like I’m turning 20 yet,” she said with a shy smile. But before anyone realized it, she had begun to exude a more mature charm. In between shoots, she took on the challenge of answering questions for an interview, despite her self-professed struggle with them.

She is also appearing as the monthly girl of FRIDAY Subs!

The photographer for this shoot was LUCKMAN, who also shot the photos for Kawamichi’s gravure debut.

“I was really nervous back then. I was stiff (laughs). I’m still a bit stiff now, but I think my expressions have improved.”

—You’re turning 20 in February, right?

“I don’t really feel it, but I’m a little excited about being able to drink. My parents drink, so I’m sure I won’t be too bad at it. I want to drink beer with my older brother!”

—It seems like you’re focusing on acting too.

“I got to appear in the live-action version of Oshi no Ko. One of my memorable moments was talking with Nagisa Saito. My role model is definitely Kasumi Arimura. I really love her natural acting in Itsuka Kono Koi wo Omoidasu—it always moves me to tears.”

“I also love JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.”

―How do you feel about your own acting?

“I’m good at memorizing lines, but playing a pop character is difficult. However, I want to appear in romance works that make people’s hearts flutter, so I’ll do my best!”

―In terms of studying acting, do you watch movies as well?

“Recently, I watched ‘The Tale of the Princess Kaguya,’ ‘Love Letters from Lageri,’ and I also watched ‘The Sixth Sense.'”

Last year, Ms. Kawamichi tried a short cut, but she decided to make her hair longer for her coming-of-age ceremony.

―I hear you also enjoy reading books and manga.

“I have a lot of unread books, and I bought ‘The Logic of Boredom and Idleness,’ but I haven’t read it yet. As for manga, I really enjoyed the webtoon ‘Kenka Dokugaku’—it’s about the protagonist learning to fight on his own, just like the title suggests.”

―Surprisingly, you like battle manga, don’t you?

“Yes, I do! I love ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’ too, but the work I’ve reread the most in my life is ‘Parasyte.’ I can’t even count how many times I’ve read it (laughs).”
