It is no exaggeration to say that the whole of Japan was shocked.
On February 4, Fuji Television reported that Ruriko Kojima, a TV personality, and her husband were rushed to the hospital in the afternoon of February 4, and that the husband had died.
&#8220;Her husband was Kota Kitamura, the representative director of &#8216;Habitat,&#8217; a company engaged in the sauna business. He was two years younger than Kojima. The couple was transported to the hospital, where Kitamura&#8217;s death was confirmed, while Kojima reportedly sustained minor injuries,&#8221; said a national newspaper journalist.
The two were married in March 2011. Their marriage was revealed in a report by Bunshun Online in May of the same year.
Mr. Kitamura himself readily admitted their marriage to Bunshun Online, saying, &#8220;We entered the registry in March of this year.”
At the time of the marriage, FRIDAY Digital had heard the following surprising reputation about Mr. Kitamura from a person involved in a venture business who knew him, which was different from the image of his title as a venture company president.
&#8220;In the world of venture business, there are different types of entrepreneurs: those who are highly focused on going public, those who aim to sell their company at a high price once it has grown to a certain extent, and those who simply pursue what they want to do with their close-knit group. Kitamura fell into the third category. He ran his company modestly with his friends from his student days. At the time of their marriage, Mr. Kitamura took on the name Kojimase. At the time of their marriage, Kitamura&#8217;s acquaintances were greatly surprised by this.
&#8220;Kitamura&#8217;s family comes from a distinguished lineage in Noh theater. I was surprised because I had assumed he would eventually take over his father&#8217;s role.&#8221;
However, despite the surprise of those around them, the couple seemed happy together at the time.
&#8220;Their relationship was well-known among their circle. Kitamura would openly say at drinking parties, &#8216;I&#8217;m dating Kojiruri.&#8217; They also held dinner gatherings and introduced each other to their friends, so it seems they didn&#8217;t mind if people found out. In May of last year, Habitat received an investment from United, an IT company involved in the investment business, and was making capital investments to develop its sauna business in rural areas. In January of this year, it was also reported that Kojima had given birth to her first child. The tragedy came at a time when both their public and private lives were just beginning.
