Mayumi Shiraishi of “SWEET STEADY” makes her FRIDAY debut: “I was able to shoot with 120% of a good woman!

After four and a half years as a stage actress, she became an idol again. ……

Mayumi Shiraishi showed off her precious lingerie in the December 12 (Thursday) issue of FRIDAY.’ When we asked her how she felt about her first gravure photo shoot in three years, she responded with a smile.

I was able to try my hand at gravure for the first time since I joined SWEET STEADY!　My color is red, and I’m actually also in charge of ‘good girls’ (laughs)… I was able to wear mature costumes for FRIDAY’s gravure, and I think I was able to shoot with 120% good girls, so please take a look everyone!

–You have gone beyond 100%, haven’t you?　Could you tell us about your career to date?

I started working with another idol group in 2002 for about three and a half years, and after that I became a stage actress. I was in that group for four and a half years, and on March 4 of this year, I started working again as an idol. On stage, I was in “Cutie Honey,” “Assault Lily,” “Gothic is Magic Maiden,” “Queen Ste,” etc.!

–So you have returned to the idol industry, but is there a reason for this?

Yes, I did. The first idol group I was in ended up graduating together, and the main reason was that I had unfinished business in the idol business. I thought at the time of my graduation that I would continue to be an idol, but thankfully, I was offered a chance to perform on stage at that time. I thought there was a connection, so I started working as a stage actress. I was so absorbed in the fun of creating a stage production together that before I knew it, four years had passed in the blink of an eye.

Even so, I always had the desire to work as an idol in my heart. One day, when I talked to some of the cast members I had met on stage, they encouraged me by saying, “Now is the only time you can be an idol. I thought to myself, “Surely, that’s true! So I went directly to Asobi Systems, the company I belong to now, and asked them if they were looking for idols (laughs). (Laughs.) Now that I think about it, it was an amazing move. I showed them that I had the numbers for social networking. I have social networking numbers! I was on stage, and the timing was right for me to get some buzz on SNS, so I went on the offensive!

–you are greedy, aren’t you? I think that is why I am able to shine as an idol again. Once again, looking back on this shoot, how did you feel about it?

I wanted to do gravure with a sense of transparency, and I was happy that I was able to achieve that in today’s shoot!　The shoot was full of everything I wanted to do. I was able to stretch out in beautiful lingerie and stylish swimsuits for the shoot. It’s been a while since I’ve done gravure, and as I’ve gotten older, I think I’ve developed a more mature look and feel than last time. I tried my best to convey a different look and atmosphere from that of an idol, and I hope that everyone can see that. My favorite part is the light blue outfit!

–Thank you very much. Lastly, what are your goals for the future?

I would like to get more and more people to know about us, both individually and as a group, and to have many magazines with me and us on the cover in the magazine section of convenience stores. I would also like to tie up SWEET STEADY with cakes sold at convenience stores at Christmas and other seasonal event products. Kodansha, please do it!”

-What about your other activities besides being an idol?

I am interested in working on TV dramas. Yui Sakurai, one of my seniors at the office, was in the drama project of “What’s wrong with being a little bit cheeky? I am not sure if it is too much to ask, but I would like to follow in her footsteps!　I am currently doing the best I can, but I would like to try new things more and more!　Thank you for your support!
