Kisekoi Actress Nanaka Yano Reflects Before Final Shoot
The hot new actress Nanaka Yano shows off her photogravure in FRIDAY, which is on sale now!
Actress Nanaka Yano, who is gaining immense popularity for her roles in the drama Sono Kisekae Ningyo wa Koi wo Suru (MBS) and the YouTube channel Sakuma Nobuyuki’s NOBROCK TV, appeared in a gravure feature in the November 29th issue of FRIDAY. She shares her thoughts on the photoshoot, her current drama, and her feelings about participating in variety shows.
In her private life, she is negative.
— This is your second appearance on FRIDAY, after about four months. How was the photoshoot this time?
“I was really happy when FRIDAY told me they wanted to do another shoot! But at the same time, I felt pressure, wondering if I could create a better gravure than last time. I consulted with the staff about how to show my style and express myself, and I think I was able to show a new side of Nanaka Yano!”
— What was your favorite scene from the shoot?
“It was the scene where I played basketball in an orange swimsuit. I’m not very good at sports, so I was worried, but I ended up dribbling better than I imagined, so I hope people will check it out (laughs). The footage is included in the FRIDAY DVD, so please take a look!”
— The drama Sono Kisekae Ningyo wa Koi wo Suru you’re starring in will have its final episode on December 10. How have you felt playing your role so far?
“The character I play, Noa Sugaya, seems like just a cheerful girl at first, but she’s actually kind and cares a lot about her friends. After reading the original work, I didn’t want her to seem like a reckless or empty character. Her feelings for the protagonist and the way she thinks and lives her life are important to her, so I’ve been careful to make sure I don’t forget those aspects while portraying her.”
– Do you ever struggle with acting?
“After performing on set, I usually think, ‘That was good!’ But the day before the final shoot, I often find myself thinking, ‘Maybe I could have done it better.’. In my private life, I’m quite negative, but I believe that being down because of work doesn’t help, and nothing comes out of it. I try to reflect positively and use it to improve next time.”
I was a very indifferent child.
— The video where you pranked the comedy trio “Linda Color∞” on Sakuma Nobuyuki’s NOBROCK TV has been viewed 690,000 times and became a hot topic in the variety world. How was it?
“I had been watching NOBROCK TV for a long time, so when Sakuma-san revealed the prank, I was genuinely happy! There was something that wasn’t shown in the video, but when Den from Linda Color∞ greeted me, he gave me his own acrylic stand as a gift. It was our first meeting, but he instantly won me over. All three of them had incredibly quick wit and responses, and I was so impressed by how cool comedians are during the recording.”
— Have you always liked comedy?
“When I was little, I wasn’t really into it. Honestly, when I saw people laughing at variety or comedy shows, I used to think, ‘What’s so funny?’ I was such an indifferent kid (laughs). After I started acting, I began watching more comedy and variety shows. Before I knew it, I’d gotten so absorbed in them, and now I laugh out loud by myself while watching videos. I watched last year’s M-1 Grand Prix live, and when I saw the comedy duo Reiwa Roman, I thought, ‘They’re definitely going to win!’ I was right, so this year, I want to guess the winner again (laughs).”
— What are you looking forward to working on in the future?
“I’ve really gotten into cooking. I even made a three-layer Earl Grey cheesecake. The bottom is a cookie crust, the middle is Earl Grey rare cheesecake, and the top is a fruit jelly. It’s quite a complicated recipe, so I want to continue improving my cooking skills. Of course, I’ll also continue to give my best in acting, gravure, and variety shows, all while giving my full effort in every direction!”
