The drama that is attracting the most attention in January is “DCU” (TBS), which will be aired on Sunday theaters. Set in the DCU, a fictional organization newly established within the Japan Coast Guard, the story follows Captain Niina (played by Hiroshi Abe, 57) and his team as they investigate a difficult underwater incident.
As expected of a high-profile drama, the filming was extensive. On one day, about 100 extras participated in the filming at the Japan Coast Guard’s Yokohama Marine Disaster Prevention Base. In addition to Abe, the lead actress, DCU members arrived one after another. Anne Nakamura (34), who plays the Coast Guard’s first female diver, also arrived at the scene in the morning.
On this day, they filmed a scene where Abe went up on the stage to give a speech in front of the extras, as if it was some kind of ceremony. Nakamura, Yokohama Ryusei (25), Okazaki Taihei (32) and other DCU members looked on with serious eyes. Shota Harufutei (62), who plays the Coast Guard’s second most elite officer, was also there, feeling a bit annoyed with Shinna.
Nakamura says he is “athletic and stoic. I’m sure he’ll do a cool job in the difficult underwater scenes.
