Seiji Miyane’s “Miyaneya” was “flooded with over 200 protests” over the “shadowy image” of the fire at Kuniko Inoguchi’s house, which caused a stir.

Complaints flooded in about the fire at Kuniko Inoguchi’s home, “Miyaneya” host Seiji Miyane

Relatives of Kuniko Inoguchi complained, “Please don’t use that footage.

On November 27, a tragic accident occurred at the home of Kuniko Inoguchi, a member of the House of Councilors, in which the top floor of the six-story apartment building caught fire and spread violently, killing Inoguchi’s husband Takashi (80 years old), a professor emeritus at Tokyo University, and her oldest daughter (33 years old).

While the news was heartbreaking to hear, it was the footage broadcast by the NTV affiliate “Miyaneya” (produced by Yomiuri TV) that upset the public’s emotions.

The video, which was broadcast as a “viewer’s contribution,” showed what appeared to be a woman holding a plastic bottle in her hand amidst the flames. The video was broadcast as it was, with no one knowing who she was or what she was doing.

A Nippon TV source revealed what happened behind the scenes.

After the broadcast of Miyaneya, we received a complaint from a person claiming to be a relative, asking us to stop using the footage. As a result of emergency discussions among the news bureau executives, it was decided to use the footage only on that day and prohibit its use from the following day onward, taking into consideration the wishes of the relatives. Therefore, the same video was broadcast on “news every.” after Miyaneya. This was because it had the potential to be valuable evidence in the case.”

Even losing to the back-up program “Gogosma”.

On December 2, after this content was distributed on Friday Digital, people on SNS and other social networking sites started asking

Why didn’t they cancel it immediately?

I was very shocked when I saw the video.

I was very shocked when I saw the video. It was not only social networking sites that caused a stir.

“Following the broadcast, Yomiuri TV, which produces Miyaneya, was flooded with more than 200 phone calls and e-mails protesting the broadcast. “The media has no morals!” “My child is shocked and scared,” and many other angry and raw comments. It seems that after Friday’s article came out, additional protests came in. NTV probably received a considerable number of protests as well. Miyaneya has been losing in viewer ratings to Gogosuma (TBS) on most days, so it’s like a curse on the weakest link.

Speaking of Miyaneya, when Hala of the Korean idol group KARA passed away in 2007, the station caused a number of uproar by broadcasting live from in front of her house even though it was impossible to make a mosaic of her death, and by broadcasting unreleased music by ASKA, a former member of CHAGE and ASKA, on live TV without permission. The station has often come under fire for causing such disturbances as these.

In the past, the ratings were booming and the show was in a “no-holds-barred” state, so there was little blame even if a few problems occurred. Recently, however, the station’s upper management has been losing their impression of the show, as evidenced by the loss of “Gogosuma” and Mr. Miyane’s lack of motivation. If Mr. Miyane says he is quitting, there is a possibility that the station will no longer comfort him.

It is not hard to understand the desire to broadcast original stories that other stations do not have, in order to gain viewer ratings, but news programs are subject to questions of public nature and morals. The current fiasco may have been a major blow to Miyaneya, which is in dire straits.
