Yui Yokoyama & Shota Gogami Tie the Knot – From High-Rise Life to Marriage!

A desire for marriage that had been revealed two years ago.

“Mr. Shota Gogami and I, Yui Yokoyama, are pleased to announce our marriage.”

On December 2, Yui Yokoyama (31), former second general manager of AKB48 and affectionately known as “Yuihan,” announced her marriage to Shota Gogami (38), a member of the four-man mood kayō chorus group Junretsu. Yokoyama shared the news on her Instagram, expressing gratitude to her fans and stating her aspirations for married life: “We hope to support each other, treat one another with respect, and build a happy home together.”

“Since graduating from the group in December 2021, Yokoyama has frequently spoken about her desire to get married in appearances on TV and radio. In 2022, during an interview on TOKYO SPEAKEASY (TOKYO FM), she responded to a question from host Yuji Miyake, saying, ‘I didn’t really think about marriage in the past, but after graduating from AKB, even though I don’t have a partner now, I’ve started to feel like I’d like to get married someday.’

Gogami’s birthday is in October, and Yokoyama celebrates hers on December 8. With both marking significant milestones, it seems they decided to take the next step and become a family,” shared an entertainment industry insider.

One evening in October, the couple was spotted enjoying a dinner gathering with two friends. At a hidden Asian dining spot, the four enjoyed lively conversation for nearly four hours. It wasn’t until after 10 PM that the party finally wrapped up.

Even on their way home, Yuihan was laughing and chatting happily with her friends. Beside her, Gogami, casually dressed in a T-shirt, stayed close. Dubbed a super couple for their respective titles as the second general manager of AKB48 and a member of a group often called idols of the super sentō (public baths), the two parted ways with their friends at the station near the restaurant and returned to the same apartment building together. Along the way, Yuihan gently wrapped her arm around Gogami’s, showing just how close and affectionate they are.

What was the trigger for their relationship?

“Last year, they co-starred in Junretsu’s second leadership performance, Meijiza September Junretsu Performance. The performance was divided into two parts: drama and song. Yuihan played Carol, a young Hollywood actress, and Gogami portrayed Pat, an unsuccessful actor. It seems they grew closer through the performance,” said a mid-level stage actor.

It wasn’t the only time we spotted the couple. Two days after the hidden dining dinner, on a pleasant autumn afternoon, Yuihan, dressed in a New Era T-shirt and Nike training pants, and Gogami, dressed head-to-toe in Nike, were seen leaving a tower mansion.

They walked casually, as if heading out for a stroll, and went to a gym a few minutes away. After about an hour of exercise, they returned to the apartment with refreshed expressions… but quickly turned back. It seemed that Yuihan had forgotten her apartment keys at the gym. She jogged back in and returned with a wry smile. Gogami, who had been waiting outside, greeted her gently.

On another day, Yuihan was seen shopping alone at a supermarket in a shopping street, buying ingredients for a hot pot. She was also spotted posting mail. It seems that, even before their marriage announcement, they had been sharing household chores.

Yuihan’s marriage announcement post was filled with warm messages from fans. This is no surprise, as both she and Gogami have always valued their fans. We hope they continue to support each other and build a happy life together.
