Ōlin’s TV Hiatus: Industry Praise and Fans’ Relief

Evaluating the high acting skills.
Debuting as a local idol group “Ringo Musume,” and gaining popularity with her use of the Tsugaru dialect on variety shows, 26-year-old Olin has become a much-requested talent.
After graduating from the group, she continued to be active in music and acting, but in recent months, there has been a shift in her entertainment career, leading fans to express concern.
The change in question is the significant decrease in her appearances on the popular variety show “THE Toppa File” (NTV). Fans have taken to social media to express their confusion and concern over her sudden drop in appearances.
“It’s not the same without Olin-chan. Why hasn’t she been on lately!? If it’s about the seating arrangement, there are too many comedians on every episode, they should reduce that.”
“Hey, why isn’t Olin-chan on #ToppaFile anymore!? There are too many comedians answering, and without Olin-chan, it feels like the show has lost its sparkle! It feels stagnant.”
“It’s so dull without Olin-san, who always has such funny answers in the studio.”
An entertainment industry executive explains Olin’s significant contributions to the show.
“Her bright personality is well known, but Olin is also able to genuinely shed tears when watching emotional VTRs. She is clear in expressing joy, anger, sadness, and happiness, and that has helped elevate the show. What stands out is her acting ability. When she appeared in the recreated VTRs, many were impressed by her skill. Without a doubt, she has been one of the key talents supporting the show in recent years.”
Is her quirky character fake?!
There are various speculations about the reason for her reduced appearances.
“While her answers and comments may seem natural, she surprisingly delivers sharp reasoning and keeps getting the answers correct in the main quiz. Her accuracy rate is probably the best. Some even suspect that the show is avoiding her appearances because she’s answering too many questions correctly.
Until now, her country girl character with a strong Tsugaru dialect had become well-established. However, there are voices suggesting that the recent take-home report might be lingering.
It was reported that she hit it off with RYOJI, the leader of the vocal unit ‘WOLF HOWL HARMONY,’ at a members-only karaoke bar popular with celebrities in Tokyo and dragged him back to the hotel where she was staying. This report, showing her as a party girl with a carnivorous attitude, has seemed to erode her simple country girl image” (TV magazine reporter).
However, a producer from a major network dismissed the speculation with a laugh, saying, “It’s because the stage play has started.”
Since November 8, Olin has been starring in her first-ever musical, “The Producers” (at Tokyu Theatre Orb, until December 6). The recent decrease in her television appearances is likely due to her rehearsals. In this production, she plays a Swedish actress who struggles with English, portraying the role with a sexy twist.
After the first performance, Olin commented on her role, saying, “I hope I can make the Swedish accent my own in a way that’s true to me,” bringing some laughter to the audience.
With her acting skills added to her country girl persona, Olin is expanding her career, and her fans are undoubtedly relieved to see her success.
