The “sad fall from life” described by a friend of the 60-something suspect who ran on the tracks and fled after being molested.
I wanted to feel conquered.
The purpose of my molestation is to gain a sense of conquest by seeing the victim’s disgust. And finally, I thought it would be great if I could see the woman feeling it.”
Eiji Iwahashi, 61, a former cab driver who molested an 18-year-old woman, A, on the JR Saikyo Line and fled onto the tracks, made this appalling statement during police questioning.
On August 12, 2012, Iwahashi was arrested by the Shinjuku Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of indecent assault and obstruction of business by force.
The incident occurred on May 27, 2012. When defendant Iwahashi put his hand inside Ms. A’s skirt and touched her lower body on the JR Saikyo Line, Ms. A filmed the situation with her cell phone. At Shinjuku station, he said, ‘I touched you, didn’t I?’ and grabbed her wrist and handed her over to the station staff. …… To her surprise, the defendant Iwahashi jumped off the platform onto the train tracks and fled.
On July 22, Iwahashi was also arrested on suspicion of obstructing business by force after entering the train tracks. More than 100 images were found on Iwahashi’s smartphone, which are believed to show a woman’s backside.
Iwahashi had been repeatedly committing molestation since he was around 25 years old. This is not the first time he has been arrested. In January 2010, he was arrested on suspicion of indecent assault for touching the lower half of an 18-year-old woman on the JR Saikyo Line. On this occasion, too, he jumped down onto the tracks and was seized by station staff as he fled 350 meters away, and was sentenced to one year and four months in prison for indecent assault. He had just been released from prison last year.
Route was known in advance
At his first trial on October 25 at the Tokyo District Court, Iwahashi admitted the facts of the indictment , saying, “There is no doubt about it. He was planning to take advantage of the congestion to touch the woman’s body.
〈I was looking for a girl who might be a target on a station platform, aiming for a crowded time during work hours. I got on the train with her, thinking that I would touch her body. And I think I “hit” on her. (From Iwahashi’s affidavit) “‘Hitting’ means touching a woman’s thighs with the back of my hand on her skirt under the guise of coincidence, and checking her reaction.
He also said that he “had it in his head in advance as an escape route” that he jumped off the platform at Shinjuku Station onto the train tracks and fled.
[Joon] was suspected of molestation and was about to be caught, so I ran away on the train tracks in the direction of Ikebukuro and jumped down to the ground from near the big guard of Shinjuku. I knew that it was easy to escape because there were no other people on the tracks, because I had run on the tracks at Shinjuku Station several times in the past when I was about to be caught as a molester.
During the trial, the prosecutor read out the statements of Mr. A and the person in charge of JR Shinjuku Station, both of whom had strong feelings of punishment.
[I caught the defendant at Shinjuku Station, but he escaped. I absolutely cannot forgive the defendant, and I want him to be severely punished.” (Ms. A’s affidavit)
That asshole.”
The molester jumped onto the tracks at Shinjuku Station and fled, causing station employees to take unexpected duties and actions. As a result of this incident, 66 trains were suspended and 124 trains were delayed. The minimum delay was 2 minutes and the maximum was 39 minutes, causing inconvenience to a significant number of customers. In addition, the company has also incurred replacement transportation costs for other companies. I hope that the defendant will be punished severely” (JR East employee).
After the trial, a man who said he had known Iwahashi for 20 years revealed how he had been doing since his release from prison.
He said, “When I knew him, he was working as a boy in a club and taking care of his wife and children. But because he repeatedly molested me, my family ran away from me, and now I’m all alone. Just when you think, ‘He’s working diligently,’ he gets arrested for molestation and disappears. Last year, after he got out, he continued to work and live a simple life. He had a small TV in his room, and that was about the only entertainment he had.
He said, ‘This is the last time. This is the last time. I’ll do it properly,’ so I went along with him, but it’s all over now. That disease will never go away. Every time he comes out, the number of victims will only increase. I went to visit him at the detention center and told him, “I’m done with you. Don’t send me any more letters.
This male acquaintance of mine sometimes said indignantly , “That idiot,” while at the same time expressing regret, “ He’ s not a bad guy as long as he’s working diligently.
Iwahashi could not stop molesting the victim and the victim’s family, as well as his own family and acquaintances, even though he had hurt them. According to the prosecutor, there are plans to file additional charges in the future. We hope he will be rehabilitated this time. ……
