Tao Tsuchiya, whose “skinny but slender” image has caused a stir on the Internet, is worried about her “overworking” and “hard work.
I’m so worried that I can’t get the story out of my head.”
Sunday’s drama “Diamonds in the Sea” (TBS) got off to a strong start as expected.
The stable performance of the lead actor, Ryunosuke Kamiki (31), as well as the lineup of top-level actors such as Takumi Saito, Hana Sugisaki, and veteran Nobuko Miyamoto in supporting roles, may be one of the factors adding to the gravitas of the story.
However, among the star-studded cast, it was surprisingly another person who attracted the most attention. It was Tao Tsuchiya (29), who has “lost a lot of weight.
Tsuchiya-san plays the role of a childhood friend of the main character who has feelings for her. Her character is progressive and free-spirited, and her Showa fashion fits her well, but her cheeks looked as if they had become chubby. But her cheeks looked as though they were puckered up. There was a lot of talk on the Internet that she had ‘lost weight, but not much weight,’ and ‘I can’t get into the story because I’m worried about her.
Tsuchiya reported the birth of her first child at the end of last August. It is said that the reason for her drastic weight loss may be that she returned to work after childbirth with almost no rest.
She appeared on stage hard until just before the birth. Although it has only been a little over a year since she gave birth, she has appeared in four movies this year, and this drama series, “Sleeping in the Sea,” is her second. She has also been working hard as the main performer in “24 Hour TV,” and she continues to work without a break.
In the world of young actresses, not only Tsuchiya’s generation but also those of her younger generation, such as Minami Hamabe and Mei Nagano, are rising to prominence. There is an abundance of talent in the industry, so if Tsuchiya takes a break for a while, she could lose her place in no time at all. That is why Tsuchiya must have been impatient and decided to return to work, which is said to be too soon.
Moreover, she has always been a very hard worker. No matter how difficult it is for her to balance work and childcare, she will always do what she has to do. It is said that this may have contributed to her drastic weight loss.
Memory and Attention to Detail Surprised Even Reporters
In fact, many writers who have interviewed Tsuchiya on numerous occasions have commented on her “lack of care” in her work.
When I was interviewed jointly by several media, Tsuchiya asked me, ‘Did you get a haircut? I had to ask Tsuchiya several times, and she replied, “Yes, I did. It is true that I have interviewed Ms. Tsuchiya several times, but the last time I saw her was three or four months ago. I was surprised and happy that she remembered a writer whom she had met only a few times, even though she must have done countless interviews with someone as successful as Ms. Tsuchiya.
Another interview writer who worked with Tsuchiya for another magazine also testified.
As soon as we sat down for the interview, Tsuchiya’s eyes widened in surprise and she said, ‘You’re so tall! As soon as we sat down, Ms. Tsuchiya’s eyes widened and she showed her surprise. Whenever the cameraman (male) praised her posing, she would say, “I’m so happy! and talked to them with a sweet pretense. Of course, everyone was smitten.
Ms. Tsuchiya is often criticized for being overly attentive, but regardless of whether she is working with big names or small, she shows her care to everyone equally, without cutting corners. But Ms. Tsuchiya shows equal concern for everyone, regardless of whether they are big or small, and I can’t help but admire and respect her.
What I was a little concerned about was the fact that, in spite of such care, in Tsuchiya’s case, it does not necessarily translate into a favorable impression. It seems to me that this is not necessarily a good thing. As a side note, speaking of equal, no-cut-throat care, the same can be said of Alice Hirose (29), who is also starring in this season’s drama “Zenryoku Anomalous Solution Room” (Fuji TV series). In her case, however, not many negative comments have been heard. Curious as to why, we asked the writers again.
Ms. Tsuchiya, on the other hand, comes across as a “classic pretentious type,” which makes me think that her concern is rather selfish. Even though they are both trying to make the interview more lively, this may be the reason for the difference in their likability.
Tsuchiya’s “hard work” is one of her virtues, but she should take good care of her health.
