<p>Koiwa, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo, is a town that retains a strong downtown atmosphere, and is lined with many cheap and delicious izakaya (Japanese-style pubs), which are known as &#8220;senbero. The current topic of conversation in such a place is the &#8220;gorgeous mother-daughter&#8221; singers Sanae and Reika Kouzuki, who released &#8220;Koiwa no Onna&#8221; in February of this year.</p>

<p>They look like they would be more at home in Ginza or Akasaka than in Koiwa. That is why they are called the &#8220;Kano sisters of Koiwa&#8221; by their fans.</p>
<h2>Performing monthly at a live house in Koiwa, their hometown, for 18 years</h2>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> I&#8217;ve lived in my hometown in Koiwa all my life. I&#8217;ve been living in my hometown Koiwa for a long time, and I&#8217;ve been singing songs dressed like this.</span></p>
<p>At the age of 28, she began her career as a singer when singer-songwriter Katsuhiko Miki wrote a song and sang the ending theme for &#8220;Gilgamesh Naito&#8221; (TV Tokyo), which was airing at the time. And for the past 18 years, she has been holding a live concert once a month at a local live house &#8220;Johnny Angel&#8221; without fail.</p>

<p>She and her daughter, Reika, performed a duet of &#8220;Koiwa no Onna&#8221; (Onna of Koiwa).</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> Miki wrote the song for me and my local friends to sing together, and about a dozen of us got together and said, &#8220;I want to do it! About a dozen of us got together and said, &#8220;I want to do it! But when it came time for lessons and recording, the gathering was not good and we couldn&#8217;t proceed. So I decided to sing with my daughter Reika.</span></p>
<p>In fact, mother and daughter released a song together 10 years ago. However, due to &#8220;certain circumstances,&#8221; they were unable to sing for a long time. &#8230;&#8230;</p>

<p><span class="strongInContent"> Mr. Masato Sugimoto, who is famous for &#8220;Ago Yabo,&#8221; wrote a song called &#8220;Koi wa Mystery,&#8221; which we both sang together. But at that time, Reika went to Osaka right after the release of the song. So, unlike 10 years ago, I would like to sing &#8220;Koiwa no Onna&#8221; with just the two of us this time.</span></p>
<p>A few years later, I returned to Koiwa, safe and sound (?). Reika has returned to Koiwa. She is now active as an artist who draws mandala paintings.</p>

<p><span class="strongInContent"> I liked painting, but I didn&#8217;t study it when I was a student. But my mother encouraged me to try mandala painting, so I took a class. I was hooked. I started to take it seriously, and I have been creating my own original paintings with rhinestones and sparkling things.</span></p>
<p>Reika says that she never draws the same mandala twice. All of her mandala paintings are &#8220;one-of-a-kind,&#8221; and they are so popular that some cost several hundred thousand yen, and the most expensive ones are sold for several million yen.</p>
<h2>New Program to Start in November</h2>
<p>Sanae&#8217;s mother, Sanae, has been singing in Koiwa. Her daughter, Reika, is a popular mandala artist. The TV program &#8220;Koiwa no Onna no Onna no Jijo&#8221; (Chiba TV, BS12), hosted by the unique mother and daughter, will start on November 1.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> We would like to invite guests and talk with them for a full 30 minutes on the theme of &#8220;onna&#8221; (women) and &#8220;love. We mothers and daughters have a lot of experience in &#8220;love,&#8221; so we hope to hear a lot of &#8220;adult talk,&#8221; and we also hope to talk frankly.</span></p>
<p>In addition to their duet song &#8220;Koiwa no Onna,&#8221; Sanae and Reika Kouzuki are also trying their hand at TV shows. However, they are surprisingly &#8220;natural&#8221; in their appearance.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> To be honest, this is not a time when CDs sell well, and I don&#8217;t really have high expectations for them (laughs). I don&#8217;t really feel like I&#8217;m trying my best to sell them. I can&#8217;t decorate well, so I just show the mother and daughter as they are. At the live shows, I just show my drunken appearance as it is. &#8230;&#8230; (laughs).</span></p>

<p><span class="strongInContent"> But I want everyone who comes to our live shows to enjoy themselves and leave not just saying, &#8220;The song was good,&#8221; but &#8220;It was fun today, too. It would be great if they laughed, said they were empowered, and left feeling energized.</span></p>
<p>The gorgeous visuals of the band give off a powerful singing ability that is hard to imagine. I now understand why Sanae and Reika Kouzuki are so loved in Koiwa.</p>
