TBS Announcer Mako Tamura Shines as One-Day Police Chief
She is now an ace in the hole at TBS.
On Sunday, September 29, a parade for Autumn Traffic Safety Week was held on Tsukishima Monja Street (Chuo Ward, Tokyo), bustling with many tourists. Leading the way, holding a large blue banner, was TBS announcer Mako Tamura (28).
On this day, she served as the one-day police chief of the Tsukishima Police Station.
Currently, Tamura is in her sixth year since joining the company. She has been the MC of the morning information variety show “Lavit!” since March 2021.
“Born into a political family, her father is Kenkyu Tamura, a member of the House of Representatives and former Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare (59). When she first joined the company, she garnered attention as a young lady announcer, but she has now grown into a versatile female announcer. She has gained popularity as the too cute morning face on ‘Lavit!’, which was said to have a short lifespan. Alongside Akira Kawashima of ‘Kirin’ (45), she has elevated the show to be known as ‘the brightest morning program in Japan,’ receiving high praise within the station and has become an essential presence at TBS” (key station programming official).
At the event that day, a ceremony was held in front of the Tsukishima Police Station. When Tamura, dressed as the police chief, was introduced, the gathered fans quickly raised their cameras. Seeing this, Tamura widened her eyes in surprise. As the parade began, voices could be heard calling out, “Chief Tamura!” “Look this way!” “Please salute!” and each time, she turned her face toward the direction of the voices.
On October 2, Tamura reported on her Instagram, showcasing her uniform, saying,
“Everyone, please make sure to follow traffic rules and heighten your awareness of traffic safety!”
She also didn’t forget to remind everyone. It’s only natural that drivers, being warned by such a cute Tamura, would raise their awareness!
