Former Nursery Teacher Arrested Seven Times for Indecency: Court Reveals Disgusting Motives
Arrested seven times for forced sexual intercourse, etc.
“I was unable to control myself and acted according to my greed. That greed is the sexual desire to do the same things that were shown in the child pornography videos in my possession.”
On September 24, 20, during the fifth trial held at the Tokyo District Court, defense counsel asked the defendant, “Why did you do what you were accused of?”
Nagata is accused of sexually assaulting seven children (A-G in the order of indictment) at two licensed daycare centers in Tokyo, where she worked, and filming the assaults, which she is charged with forcible sexual intercourse, violation of the Child Pornography Law, and other crimes.
“Nagata began working as a nursery teacher in 2017 and transferred to a nursery managed by his father in April 2022. He was arrested on January 17, 2024, for sexually assaulting a preschooler, but it was later discovered that he had repeatedly committed similar offenses. He was re-arrested multiple times, ultimately leading to seven arrests.
Many of Nagata’s relatives are nursery teachers, including one who runs a different nursery. The prosecutor described them as essentially a family of nursery teachers. Nagata was also set to inherit his father’s nursery, expressing that he became a nursery teacher because he ‘followed the laid path'” (National Newspaper Social Department Reporter).
At the fifth trial, the defendant Nagata was questioned.
Nagata first committed the crime against G-chan, a child in her class, at the end of 2021, when she had been working as a daycare worker for five years. The trigger was that “G-chan’s sleeping position during nap overlapped with the image of child pornography, and I felt sexual feelings toward her,” said Nagata.
“I didn’t initially feel any sexual desire toward it. However, over time, I gradually developed desires from the unrealistic events that occurred in that daily life, which led me to commit the crime,” Nagata admitted.
Unable to control himself.
Why did he act on the idea of sexually assaulting G-chan when he saw her sleeping? In response to the prosecutor’s question:
“I had originally collected child pornography videos, but in my mind, I saw them as something from some distant world. Even with my knowledge as a childcare worker, it was a huge shock to me that I would feel sexualized by something that was happening right in front of my eyes. I felt what I had felt in child pornography with the children in front of me. As a result of the conflict between my position as a childcare worker and my greed, I gave in to my greed.” (Defendant Nagata).
While moving classes during extended care, Nagata was left alone with G and took her under the piano, which was in a blind spot of the security camera, where he committed sexual assault. He claims that at that point, he was not aware that the area under the piano was out of the security camera’s view.
After the crime, he revealed, “I felt panic, an overwhelming sense of despair for what I had done, and deep remorse and guilt toward G herself.”
“I kept thinking in my head and heart that I needed to stop and that I shouldn’t increase the number of victims any further. However, my heart and body were facing completely opposite directions. To be honest, I had truly lost control of myself,” Nagata admitted.
Regarding the filming of sexual assaults against some of the victims, he stated, “I thought I would look back at it later. It was solely for my own viewing, and I did not disseminate it.”
His father, who was supposed to take over the position of director at the nursery, stepped down and informed Nagata during a visit that he would cut ties with him. He has also divorced his wife, and the process of dividing their assets is reportedly underway.
He has been giving most of his income to his ex-wife, and only a few tens of thousands of yen remain in Nagata’s account. When asked by his lawyer, “What are your thoughts on compensation for the victims?” he replied:
“I want to compensate them, but I currently have no financial resources. I don’t know how many years it will take, but eventually, I plan to return to society, get a job, and once I can earn money, I would like to pay those who are willing to accept it.”
Nagata acknowledged that he has a sexual addiction. He promised to attend hospital visits for treatment after returning to society and vowed that he would never work in a job involving children again. He concluded his statement with an apology: “I am truly sorry for the selfish actions I took, which hurt your precious children and your families, and I betrayed you.”
In the second part of the article, “[Possessing a Large Amount of Child Pornography…] Shocking Methods Revealed by Former Child Care Worker Who Indecently Attacked Seven Preschoolers,” we will discuss the method of the crime that Nagata described in court.
