Kyoko Koizumi Remains the Ultimate Idol Surrounded by Fans at Morning Live Event
After a 7-Year Hiatus in Television Dramas
In the early afternoon of early September, many waiting fans gathered in front of the Shibuya talk live house “LOFT9 Shibuya.” As soon as the door to the backstage opened, fans cheered loudly. The person who appeared was Kyoko Koizumi (58).
“In March, she made a surprise appearance as herself in the drama ‘Inappropriately Excessive!’ (TBS). It’s been a full seven years since her last appearance in a television drama, hinting at a full-fledged return to drama. Starting September 1, she stars alongside Satomi Kobayashi (59) in the NHK BS Premium drama ‘Danchi no Futari,’ which depicts the daily lives of single women of the same generation living in a public housing complex. Their natural performances have garnered a lot of praise. I believe there’s a high possibility it will air on terrestrial television around next summer,” said a television magazine writer.
Since becoming independent in 2018, Koizumi has mainly focused on stage production and producer activities, with her appearances as a talent primarily limited to radio and events. On this day, she held the event “Haruo Chikada × Kyoko Koizumi Produce BAD MORNING! CLUB Vol. 3” with her long-time acquaintance, music producer Haruo Chikada (73), with whom she has been co-navigating “TOKYO M.A.A.D SPIN” (J-WAVE) since 2021. Many fans showed up for the regular club event starting at 8 a.m.
Holding a Handful of Gifts
“The event featured live performances from several bands, DJ time, a talk show, and a flea market—everything you could imagine. With breakfast and a drink included, some fans were seen enjoying beer and having a great time. The schedule was packed until 1 p.m., making it a very satisfying event,” said one audience member.
After the event, Koizumi appeared wearing a uniform with the event logo. She embraced a handful of gifts, which she presumably received inside the venue, responding to the cheering fans with a beaming smile before leaving.
According to Tōsupo WEB (published September 15), discussions are emerging about a sequel to the highly rated drama “The Penultimate Love” (Fuji TV), which she co-starred in with Kiichi Nakai (63) in 2012, set to air in April next year.
We can’t take our eyes off Koizumi’s future activities.
