Taylor Swift expressed her support for Kamala Harris with a photo of her beloved cat (from her official Instagram).

On September 10 (local time), popular American singer Taylor Swift posted a lengthy statement on her social media declaring she would vote for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election in November.

On this day, a presidential debate took place between Trump and Harris, and in the evening, Swift shared a photo holding her beloved cat, Benjamin Button, on her Instagram, making her support for Harris clear.

Recently, a false AI image suggesting that Swift supported Trump circulated online, which Trump shared on his own social media, provoking a strong backlash from Swift’s fans.

“The easiest way to counter misinformation is with the truth.”

Having said that,

“I will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (the vice presidential candidate) in the 2024 presidential election.”

She declared.

The meaning of the image with her cat.

“Please remember that you need to be registered to vote! Also, I think it’s much easier to vote early. I will link information on how to register, early voting dates, and what I know.”

And finally,

“A cat-loving woman without children.”

She added.

This refers to J.D. Vance, who was nominated by the Trump candidate for vice president, making a statement in a 2021 FOX News interview that it is lamentable for the U.S. to be run by,

“Childless cat-loving women”

Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming that women without children do not benefit the country’s future. This has recently been highlighted and criticized, and it appears to mock that sentiment. A photo of him holding a cat is seen as a strong ‘cat punch’ with irony directed at the Trump campaign.

During the presidential debate, Trump made a racially charged claim that ‘immigrants are eating dogs and cats,’ which was fact-checked by the host as not factual. In a CNN poll, 63% responded that Harris ‘won,’ putting Trump at a disadvantage, and it seems that the Trump campaign is frustrated by Swift’s powerful blow.

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and a billionaire who supports Trump, posted on his X account on the 11th (local time):

“Awesome, Taylor… you’ve won… I would give you children and risk my life to protect your cat.”

And made a strange post.

This is seen as a satire of Swift’s post about ‘a woman who loves cats but has no children,’ but according to U.S. Page Six, it’s unclear whether he offered to get her pregnant or to give her one of his twelve children. However, his post quickly received strong backlash from Swift’s fans,

“Creepy and disgusting.”

With comments like this.

Trump’s ‘throwaway line’ about Taylor

Certainly, the remark by Trump’s supporter, Musk, about ‘giving a child’ is likely unnecessary for Swift, and it could be seen as a discriminatory or harassing comment towards women without children, which may have had a counterproductive effect on the Trump campaign.

On the 11th, Trump told FOX News in a phone interview,

“You will pay a price in the (music) market.”

And warned that supporting Harris would result in losing conservative fans.

In this context, Serena Stewart, CEO of the Women Voter Alliance, told the U.S. site TMZ that since Swift expressed her support for Harris and called for voting on the night of the 10th, the use of voter registration tools has increased by nearly 100% in the past two days.

A significant change was observed in the age demographics of users; on the 9th, the largest group was aged 55 to 65, but by the 11th, the largest group shifted to ages 18 to 24. This seems to indicate Swift’s influence on young people.

Stewart praised Swift for encouraging Swifties (Swift’s fans) and others to research candidates and issues during this election season.

The Harris campaign is gaining momentum from Swift’s endorsement. While Trump still has strong support among conservatives, her heartfelt ‘cat punch’ may have an effect like a body blow moving forward.
