Masataka Kubota Shares 200,000 Yen Acupuncture Treatment from Exorcist
At the stage greeting for the movie Cloud, released on September 27, actor Masataka Kubota personally addressed and completely denied the “spiritual inclination rumors” that had stirred the internet in August.
Last month, Kubota posted an image on his Instagram showing several thick acupuncture needles inserted into his face and scalp, along with the caption:
“Root treatment, incredible. Since becoming interested in the health of my mind, body, and spirit, I’ve had my own realizations and experiences, but this is the first time I’ve encountered a treatment that pierces through to the core of my soul. This sensation is intense.”
He posted it along with this caption.
It’s a 30-minute acupuncture treatment that costs 200,000 yen.
It was revealed that the person who performed the treatment referred to themselves as a “removal master,” charging an exorbitant fee of 200,000 yen for 30 minutes. Kubota also garnered attention for using unique phrases like “realization.”
About a month after this post that stirred up the internet, he held a stage greeting related to the film’s content.
“Things that have happened without my knowing.”
When asked about it, Kubota wrote “spiritual certification” on the flip chart.
“Does anyone know about this? It’s about spiritual certification…”
He began to talk.
“I recently received acupuncture treatment, where a lot of needles were inserted to relieve tension. But just because of that, people started saying things like, ‘He’s gone off into the spiritual world,’ or ‘He won’t be coming back,’ and labeling me as some kind of crazy occultist. Before I knew it, I had become the target. I just wanted to relieve my tension! SNS is scary! People are scary!”
He completely denied the rumors and had a look of annoyance on his face.
However, the acupuncture treatment known as “root treatment” is not just for relieving tension. A blog that details it lists 43 benefits.
“Beginning to move toward the right direction and purpose in life”
“Improvement of brain diseases such as Parkinson’s, adjustment disorders, amnesia, dementia, and prosopagnosia”
“Sudden contact from estranged parents or siblings”
“Increased likelihood of gaining followers on SNS”
These astonishing benefits were lined up one after another.
Why did he choose to undergo this 200,000 yen acupuncture treatment and deny spirituality at the same time?
Behind it all is the presence of his wife, Asami Mizukawa.
“It seems that many notable figures, including Ai Fukuhara and Danjuuro Ichikawa, visit this spiritual healer, and Kubota’s wife, Asami Mizukawa, also follows that person’s Instagram. For fans, it’s undeniable that there’s a lingering sentiment of discontent regarding her presence. In the past, there have been hurtful comments suggesting that Kubota’s drastic weight loss was due to ‘the meals prepared by Mizukawa,’ as well as criticisms of his past romantic history. This ‘spiritual uproar’ might also be influenced by such fan psychology, which could explain why he chose to deny it.” (said a women’s magazine reporter)
In the past, there have been cases of a troublesome former announcer who disappeared from television after marrying a spiritual healer. If rumors spread about the couple being deeply into spirituality, it could negatively impact their careers and fan support.
Considering the potential effects on Mizukawa, Kubota’s decision to engage in ‘damage control’ may have been a wise choice.
