HYDE’s Unique Style Keeps Him Charismatic After Fifty
You greet even younger staff members with polite language.
He wore small round glasses and what could be described as a hat resembling a men’s knit cap, perhaps like a towel printed with letters. In any case, in an upscale area of Tokyo where only celebrities reside, HYDE (55) stood out with his distinctive visual style.
The rock band “L’Arc〜en〜Ciel,” for which he serves as the vocalist, is a well-known monster band that made history in 2012 by being the first Japanese group to hold a solo concert at Madison Square Garden in New York and drew 160,000 fans for a two-day live performance at the National Stadium. Since their major debut in 1994, HYDE has been at the center of the band.
Now, 30 years later and past his fifties, he still shows no signs of declining in his stunning visual appeal, remaining a charismatic figure at the forefront of the band.
“Despite having such overwhelming vocal talent and an alluring appearance, he remains humble and polite, greeting even younger staff members with respect. Yet, upon learning about trouble caused by a malicious fan at his solo concert in Fukuoka on August 24, he took a firm stance on X, stating, ‘I can’t stand to see this, so I’ll say it: what a nuisance! Those kinds of people should just not come!’ This thoughtful concern for his fans is likely one of the keys to his popularity.” (said a music magazine editor)
The charismatic figure in the rock world is impressive both inside and out.
