Oasis Reunion Faces Immediate Troubles as Fans Remain Skeptical
Tickets Skyrocket Over One Million Yen
The reunion of the British band Oasis has generated excitement worldwide. The longstanding feud between members Noel and Liam Gallagher has lasted for 15 years, but on August 27, the band’s official social media announced a live concert series. They revealed 17 performances scheduled for next summer in the UK and Ireland.
“The level of fan enthusiasm is unprecedented, and as soon as presale tickets become available online on August 30, they started appearing on resale sites. Due to overwhelming demand, Oasis announced two additional shows in the UK on September 4 via X. Tickets for these additional shows will be sold through a ‘tiered and invitation-only lottery.’
This decision comes after the initial ticket sale saw a flood of buyers, leading to a rapid increase in prices due to the implemented ‘dynamic pricing’ system. Local reports indicate that tickets, initially priced around $100 each, have skyrocketed to as high as $7,800 (approximately 1.12 million yen).”
“Dynamic pricing” is a pricing strategy that adjusts the price of products or services based on the balance of supply and demand. Fans have expressed criticism, saying things like, “It was obvious that the demand wouldn’t match the supply with fans from all over the world rushing in,” and, “There’s no guarantee the brothers won’t have a falling out before the concert date, and if the show gets canceled, we probably won’t get a refund anyway. They’re just trying to make money while they can.”
“However, the members of Oasis clarified on the night of September 4 that they were not informed about the implementation of dynamic pricing, but it is clear that this has cast a shadow over their reunion,” said the aforementioned editor.
The Only Concern Is…
Troubles seem to always follow them, but it’s expected that excitement for their Japan tour is growing among fans.
“They have stated that the additional shows will be held in places outside of Europe. Their last performance in Japan was at the ‘FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’09’ at Naeba Ski Resort. Since then, they have had solo visits several times, each generating immense excitement. Known as Japan enthusiasts, the brothers are currently raising expectations, but during the Fukuoka concerts in 2000 and 2002, Liam unexpectedly left the stage in the middle of the performance for unknown reasons.
Such incidents haven’t occurred during their solo performances, so all we can do is hope that the two won’t have another falling out over the next year. In any case, even if a concert in Japan materializes, it will likely be quite far off, so Japanese fans seem to be watching the situation with a degree of calmness,” said a representative from a Japanese music company.
In the past, every time they visited Japan for solo performances, FRIDAY has caught glimpses of the two, showing happy faces in front of fans. Should an Oasis concert in Japan finally happen, we hope to see smiles like these once again.
