Black Uterus and Lewd Acts Lead to Prison Sentence for Gourmet Massage Therapist Shibuchika’s Father in Court

On July 19, the Tokyo District Court held the verdict hearing for Bunsho Narita (65), an astrologer charged with non-consensual sexual acts. Narita, who claimed to be “Shibuchika’s Father,” was sentenced to four years in prison.

Narita operated as an astrologer in the underground area of Shibuya Station in Tokyo, as well as participating in various fortune-telling events across different locations. According to the indictment, the incidents occurred between 10 AM and 1 PM on September 18, 2023.

On September 10, 2023, during a fortune-telling event, Narita allegedly told a woman in her 40s seeking advice on love, “I see a small child next to you. The child says it only wants to be born from you. I will deliver a message from the gods at a later date.”

“On September 18, Suspect Narita reunited with a woman. Believing in the words of ‘Shibuchika’s Father’ and in a state of partial brainwashing, the woman was called to a hotel. Narita said, ‘Your uterus has turned black and the child cannot enter. I will perform a massage to fix it,’ and proceeded to engage in lewd acts such as touching the woman’s chest and lower body.

At that time, he had informed her in advance, ‘If you don’t want this, please say so,’ before carrying out the acts. The victim realized she had been harmed after consulting another fortune-teller and reported it to the police. Until then, she had believed it was part of the treatment. The crime, exploiting the woman’s anxious state and performing acts while she could not make a normal judgment, is considered quite malicious,” (National Newspaper Social Affairs Reporter).

Before his arrest, Defendant Narita seemed to be living a rather prosperous life. He also appeared to be a gourmet, frequently posting photos of what seemed to be high-end marbled beef, sushi, and seafood on Instagram. His profile described him as ‘Shibuchika’s Father, a popular fortune-teller in the Shibuya underground,’ and also included phrases like ‘Aroma esthetics, Tantra esthetics, Practitioner. My esthetic book has sold over 200,000 copies’ among others. He posted a photo of himself looking gentle along with these ostentatious phrases.

 

However, in court, Defendant Narita entered with his back hunched, wearing a white T-shirt and navy blue jogging pants. His previously dark hair had turned gray, and his complexion had lost its luster. He looked around at the packed courtroom but showed no vitality in his eyes and appeared expressionless and drastically changed.

“The massage was performed using aroma oil. Although he engaged in lewd acts, he immediately stopped when the woman said it was ‘painful.’ In court, he acknowledged the acts themselves but claimed they were not for lewd purposes,” (National Newspaper Legal Affairs Reporter).

However, the judge stated:

“Self-serving and malicious. The mental suffering of the victim is great. The responsibility is heavy, and it is appropriate to face this with a prison sentence.”

He sentenced Narita to four years in prison. Narita left the courtroom without saying a word in response to the judge’s questions. It seems he was unable to predict his own future of serving a prison sentence.
