“A man with a knife is wandering around inside the hospital.”
An emergency call from a staff member at Kitasato University Hospital in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, was received just after 9:30 AM on July 23. When the police arrived at the scene, a 36-year-old woman, Ms. A, who lives in the city, was bleeding from her left arm. She reportedly told the police, “When I came to the hospital for an appointment, I was ambushed and slashed with a knife by my husband.”
&#8220;The person arrested on suspicion of attempted murder is A&#8217;s husband, unemployed Akira Fujisawa (48), who lives in Machida City, Tokyo. The couple was separated, and it is believed there was some kind of trouble. In response to the police investigation, Fujisawa claimed that she slashed his wife with a knife but did not intend to kill her. She sustained injuries that will take about a week to heal, but it is said that her life is not in danger&#8221; (national newspaper social department reporter).
Immediately after the crime, Fujisawa took an astonishing action. He got into a car with his 14-year-old daughter and fled from the hospital at high speed.
&#8220;Patrol cars and white motorcycles quickly began the pursuit. The black car Fujisawa was driving increased its speed and veered into the opposite lane to escape. The car chase lasted about an hour. Fujisawa was apprehended near Sagamiko, approximately 20 km in a straight line from Kitazato Hospital. Fujisawa curled up on the road and was arrested at the scene without resisting. The 14-year-old daughter has been protected at another location&#8221; (same source).
Why did Fujisawa ambush and attack A? What kind of trouble was there between the couple? The police are investigating the detailed motive behind the crime.
