<p> A woman&#8217;s screams echoed in a residential area late at night. Hearing her screams for help, a neighbor called 110. The man&#8217;s crime was discovered through security camera footage and other evidence.</p>

<p> On July 15, Kamata Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested Takumi Tsushima, 26, a company employee living in Ota Ward, Tokyo, on suspicion of indecent assault. He allegedly touched two women on a street in the same ward.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> The alleged incident occurred on June 20, just after midnight. The suspect must have spotted Ms. A, who was in her twenties and a victim of the crime. Security cameras caught Tsushima following Ms. A, who was on her way home, for several hundred meters from a station near the crime scene.</span></p>

<p> In August last year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested a man in his 50s. A bicycle collided with another bicycle on a street in Nerima Ward, and the man and a woman in her teens fell over. The man stuffed up the bicycle, saying that the basket of the bicycle was broken. He then took the woman to a nearby parking lot and indecently assaulted her, saying, &#8220;If you pay me with your body, I&#8217;ll make it even. The man admitted the charge, saying, &#8220;There is no doubt about it.</p>
<p> What kind of circumstances could be behind the rash of late-night street indecent assaults?</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> The suspect often commits his crimes in residential areas near his home. This is because they are familiar with the area and can easily escape, and there are fewer pedestrians around late at night. Women should, of course, avoid walking alone late at night, but if they feel uneasy, they should enter a convenience store that is open 24 hours a day. If the suspicious person does not leave, you should talk to the clerk and report it to the police.</span></p>
