Former Nursery Teacher’s Shocking Obscene Acts with Kindergarten Children Was Revealed

“During nap time, since E-chan wasn’t sleeping, I called her into the closet and scolded her. At that moment, being alone in the closet with her, I remembered the child pornography videos I had seen in the past and felt sexual arousal wanting to do it like in those videos. So, I blindfolded her with a bandana and committed lewd acts. The reason for the blindfold was to prevent E-chan from realizing what was happening.”

Defendant Nagumi Osada (27), a former nursery teacher charged with committing lewd acts on multiple girls at a licensed nursery and filming them—accused of non-consensual intercourse and violations of child pornography prohibition laws—reportedly made this statement during police interrogation.

“Defendant Osada began working as a nursery teacher in 2017 and moved to work at a nursery run by her father in April 2022. She did not take on a class as a homeroom teacher but was involved in assisting with nursery duties.

She was arrested on January 17, 2024, for sexually assaulting a child, but it was discovered that she had repeated similar offenses. By June, she had been arrested a total of seven times. Defendant Osada has stated that she was also sexually abused during her childhood, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police are carefully investigating her motives and other details” (National Newspaper Social Affairs Reporter).

On June 6, 2024, the trial for Defendant Osada began at the Tokyo District Court. Appearing in court dressed in black tracksuits, Osada had broader shoulders and a more solid build than in the photos posted on social media. For the third trial session held on July 5, she appeared with her head shaved. She was dismissed from her job following her arrest and is currently unemployed.

In the trial so far, hearings have been held for five incidents, and Defendant Osada has admitted to “all the facts.”

According to the indictment read by the prosecutor, the crimes were committed while Osada was supervising nap time alone.

 

“The defendant, on October 6, 2023, around 2:30 PM, called B-chan to the third-floor restroom, blindfolded her with a bandana, and committed lewd acts, filming the acts with a smartphone provided by the nursery. The video data was then sent to her own smartphone using file-sharing features.

On October 10, 2023, around 3:00 PM, she called A-chan to the third-floor closet, blindfolded her with a bandana, and committed lewd acts. This was also filmed with a personal smartphone. Additionally, on December 28, 2023, around 1:30 PM, pretending to inquire about the location of broken Plarail parts, she called C-chan to the third-floor closet, blindfolded her with a bandana, and committed lewd acts” (Prosecutor).

When C-chan returned home, she told her, “I was called to the closet by Defendant Osada, subjected to inappropriate actions, and then told to keep quiet.” This led to the discovery of the incident. When Defendant Osada met with C-chan’s mother, he admitted to calling her to the closet but did not provide any further details, instead putting his head in his hands.

Two days after C-chan’s complaint, on December 30, an emergency parents’ meeting was held. Defendant Osada’s father, who runs the nursery, explained his son’s inappropriate behavior and apologized. However, since Defendant Osada did not admit to the crimes, the nursery contacted the police on December 31. On January 17 of the following year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested Defendant Osada on suspicion of non-consensual intercourse with A-chan.

“When I think that someone who is a nursery teacher at a place that should be fun for my daughter was using children as an outlet for sexual gratification, I feel an anger beyond words. I believe the perpetrator should no longer be in this world, so I want them to receive the harshest punishment possible.”

The statement by C-chan’s mother read in court was filled with strong anger.

The mother of D-chan, who had also been subjected to lewd acts while blindfolded with a bandana multiple times since around the summer of 2022, said, “When the crimes were discovered, my husband and I felt as if we had been thrown into a ravine at that moment. We are still in shock from our precious daughter being hurt and are overwhelmed with anger towards Osada, not knowing what to do.”

 

 

“My daughter seems to be gradually understanding that what happened with Osada was wrong, and she often wakes up or has nightmares at night. She has become more clingy to me than ever. (Omitted) Finally, I will never forgive Osada, no matter what. Only we, as her parents, can make Osada atone for his crimes on behalf of our daughter. Please impose the harshest punishment on Osada.” (from the statement)

On the other hand, according to E-chan’s mother, “Even though such things have happened, my daughter does not hold any negative feelings towards the perpetrator who played with her.” Nonetheless, the statement concluded with:

“Using his position as a nursery teacher, he made children believe that not napping was a bad thing, creating a situation where they could not say anything, and turned them into an outlet for his sexual desires. This is something that cannot be forgiven. I hope the perpetrator admits all his crimes and is punished with the harshest sentence possible so that he never returns to society.”

Defendant Osada had a wife and two children but divorced after his arrest. A woman living nearby said, “They seemed like a close family, having barbecues in the yard on weekends and going out as a family of four.” However, the house where the Osada family lived is now completely shuttered, the nameplate has disappeared, and the electric bicycle that his wife used is also gone.

After the emergency parents’ meeting, Defendant Osada deleted videos, saying, “I hoped the arrest would be postponed.” It seems he knew that what he did was something he could be arrested for.
