NHK’s Mitsunori Uehara Stuns with Graceful Maternity Leave Look

One evening in late June, among the bustling crowd of shoppers, a woman dressed in a bright primary-colored blouse and dress was walking in tandem with other moms.

 

The woman in the green blouse was NHK’s Mitsunori Uehara, 33. Chatting animatedly with the woman beside her, she entered the large shopping mall at a pace that resembled a brisk walk. 

“Uehara, who joined NHK in 2013, is known for her dignified presence and excellent announcing skills, making her one of the network’s leading announcers. During her student years, she was an athlete in the field hockey club and practiced six times a week. During her job search, she developed a desire to meet and interview top athletes as a sports caster. Her wish was fulfilled in 2016 when she was sent to cover the Rio Olympics. She even showed her sensitive side by tearing up while interviewing Ai Fukuhara, who won a bronze medal in women’s table tennis.” (NHK insider)

From January 2019, Uehara served as a sub-caster on NHK News 7 for three years and smoothly advanced her career, becoming the main caster on Shuto-ken Network starting in April 2022. After marrying a senior from her alma mater Keio University, who works as a banker, in 2020, they welcomed their long-awaited first child. She is currently on maternity leave. It was great to see NHK’s “evening face” looking healthy, but that smile will likely be reserved for her child for a while.
