The TBS Sunday theater “Blackpean Season 2” starring popular Korean actress Choi Ji-woo (49) has begun airing. Ji-woo plays Park So-hyun, a Korean doctor, hospital manager, and successful restaurateur who also runs a restaurant, and suddenly appeared in the first 30-second clip of the first episode.

This was his first appearance in a Japanese drama in 13 years, since “Winter Cherry Blossoms” in 2011. Ji-woo’s appearance was greeted on the Internet with comments such as, “What? She looks just like she did in Winter Sonata,” “She has an amazing presence,” and “She is still beautiful. She is still beautiful.

The “Winter Sonata,” which triggered the Korean boom, was broadcast on NHK from 2003 to 2004. Bae Yong-jun was called “Yong-sama” and Ji-woo “Princess Ji-woo” or “Queen of Tears. From that year, tours to see the location shooting of Winter Sonata were organized, and the number of Japanese tourists traveling to Korea increased rapidly.

In January 2006, she starred in her first Japanese drama with Yutaka Takenouchi in TBS Sunday Theater’s “Rinkyoku,” which was a big hit with an average viewer rating of 15.9%. Ryoma Takeuchi, who co-stars with Ji-woo for the first time in this drama, said of Ji-woo, “When he enters the scene, the color of the scene changes a little. I really felt Choi Ji-woo’s atmosphere and color come into the scene.

FRIDAY” paid attention to Ji-woo in “Winter Sonata. FRIDAY” has reported on Ji-woo in various ways, including in a sexy dress at the “Tokyo International Film Festival,” at the launch of “Ring Dance,” and in a panic at the airport when he arrived in Japan at the same time as Yong-sama. Among them, the most impressive was Ji-woo’s “sexy” appearance in Japan right after she was reported to have a love affair with a Korean actor. Let us look back at the article we reported in the April 3, 2009 issue.

Ji-woo captivated in a see-through black dress, showing her mature sex appeal

On March 12, 2009, four years after the Winter Sonata boom, Choi Ji-woo appeared at the premiere screening of the Korean drama “Star’s Lover” held at Ebisu, Tokyo. Dressed in a see-through black mini-skirt dress, her outstanding style and aura of adult sex appealed to the audience.

About a month ago, Ji-woo’s relationship with Lee Jin-wook, a handsome actor six years younger than her co-star in the drama “Air City,” was reported in Japan and abroad, and the first reports of their love affair were a big topic of conversation in Japan. At the press conference on this day, questions about the relationship were also raised, but Ji-woo answered with a cute smile and a honeyed smile, “If I have anything to celebrate in the future, I will be the first to tell you all. This gap is what keeps fans glued to the screen” (editor of a movie magazine).

At the stage greeting for “Blackpean Season 2” held in Tokyo on July 2,

I am still very excited to be a part of such a wonderful drama.

Ji-woo said humbly. For a while to come, Ji-woo’s performance is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
