Did she kill her husband with a golf club?

After being transferred from the police station immediately following his arrest, the suspect’s expression seemed to show relief and a smile. The day after the shocking incident. The person who appeared before the magazine’s photographer was a 52-year-old wife accused of bludgeoning her husband to death with a golf club.

On June 18, the Nerima Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested 52-year-old Miho Yoshitake, an unemployed resident of the district, on suspicion of murder. She is said to have taken the life of her husband, 53-year-old Shin, a company employee.

“The incident for which she was arrested occurred on June 17. That day, the couple had a fight and physical altercation starting around 5 a.m. at their house in Nerima Ward. Upset, Yoshitake went out, and when she returned in the evening, a fierce argument ensued again.

According to the police, Shin brought out a golf club and hit Yoshitake on the head. In a fit of rage, Yoshitake allegedly took the club and struck Shin on the head from above, like a kendo helmet. Seeing Shin’s unusual state after being struck, Yoshitake must have been quite panicked. After receiving a call from Yoshitake around 9 p.m., her mother visited the scene and found a gruesome sight.”

“There was blood all over the house!”

The mother who witnessed the shocking crime scene immediately called 110 and reported.

“The house is covered in blood!”

When the police arrived, they found Shin in the first-floor bathroom, sitting against the wall and bleeding profusely from his head. He was transported to the hospital but was confirmed dead. Yoshitake was also found bleeding and unconscious in a room on the second floor, but she was still conscious.

In response to police questioning, Yoshitake made the following statement and denied some of the charges.

“I had a fight with my husband. He hit me with a golf club, so I retaliated. I did not intend to kill him. I did not think he would die.”

According to their son in his 20s who lived with them, the couple had regular arguments. However, their reputation in the neighborhood was not bad.

“The couple was often seen walking their dog. Yoshitake would cheerfully greet neighbors with ‘Hello.’ Shin seemed to enjoy golf, as he was frequently seen leaving with his golf bag early in the morning” (according to the reporter).

What does the seemingly relieved expression of Yoshitake, as seen by the magazine’s photographer, signify? The police are investigating the details of the incident.
