On June 18, the Nerima Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested Miho Yoshitake, 52, an unemployed woman living in the same ward, on suspicion of murder. She is alleged to have taken the life of her husband, Makoto, 53, a company employee.

The alleged incident took place on June 17. On that day, the couple got into a fight at their house in Nerima Ward around 5:00 a.m., and got into a fistfight. The suspect, who was angry, went out and when he returned in the evening, they got into a heated argument again.

According to the police, Makoto took a golf club and hit Yoshitake on the head. In a fit of rage, Yoshitake allegedly took the club and struck Makoto in the head from above like a kendo “mask. The suspect must have been very impatient with Ms. Makoto’s unusual behavior after being hit. When the mother received a call from Yoshitake after 9 p.m., she visited the house at the scene and found a horrific scene,” said a reporter from the society section of a national newspaper.

The suspect denied some of the charges, saying, “I had a fight with my husband.

According to a son in his twenties who lives with the couple and was interviewed by the police, the couple fought on a daily basis. But they did not have a bad reputation in the neighborhood, he said.

“He said he often saw the couple walking their dog. The Yoshitake suspect was friendly and said, ‘Hello,’ to the neighbors. Mr. Makoto seemed to like golf, and was often seen out early in the morning with his golf bag.
