Yukina Kinoshita’s Fear of Defamation Sparks Debate Over Her Departure for Children’s Sake
Former talent Yukina Kinoshita updated her SNS “Threads” on June 7th, revealing her current state of mind.
“In a world where it is allowed to use murderous words and comments that drive people to death without revealing one’s name or face, I have thought many times that it would be better to disappear for the sake of my children, and today especially.”
she wrote, expressing a deeply troubled state of mind. From the mention of without revealing one’s name or face, it appears she is primarily addressing defamation and abuse received online and through social media. Additionally,
“I am here now thanks to the people who have supported me every day and my daughters. Good things happen when you live. I’m grateful for every day. Good things happen if you keep trying,”
she continued, expressing a positive outlook.
Looking back, Kinoshita’s life has indeed been tumultuous.
In October 2019, when Kinoshita was at the peak of her career as a talent and influencer, it was revealed that she had sent threatening DMs to the owner of a tapioca shop where her sister worked, mentioning the whole agency would get involved. This revelation caused a huge backlash, and the tapioca shop was forced to close as a result.
In November of the same year, despite being forced to suspend her entertainment activities, she made headlines with an “Instagram vertical reading confession” that revealed the words “I love you,” sparking an affair rumor with a soccer player. The following month, in late December, she announced her divorce from her then-husband, ‘FUJIWARA’ Toshifumi Fujimoto. In July 2020, she terminated her contract with her agency and temporarily withdrew from the entertainment industry.
“Yukina Kinoshita has been involved in numerous scandals with high potential for backlash, such as the tapioca shop incident and the vertical reading affair rumor. Furthermore, her strong and bold personality led her to provoke her detractors by calling them trash, among other things.
Recently, she has made a comeback on TV, but each appearance has been met with strong opposition and further backlash. However, it is also true that she has many devoted fans who admire her as an aspiring mom. The large number of both haters and fans is a testament to her popularity,” said a female magazine reporter.
In response to her revelations on Threads, fans wrote:
“Thanks to Yukina-chan, life is fun! Thank you always!”
“Really, really, thank you for being alive,”
expressing their gratitude and support. On the other hand, on social media, there were many harsh comments for Kinoshita.
“The tapioca shop owner must have been terrified of being threatened with ‘the whole agency,’ such murderous words.”
“Someone should tell her that it’s just karma coming back to her.”
“It was previously thought that Kinoshita might have viewed ‘backlash’ as a form of promotion, but seeing her publicly express her feelings suggests that it may have affected her more than expected.
While it might be beneficial for her to accept accurate and calm criticism, for her mental health, it might be wise to ignore emotional abuse and defamation,” said a sports newspaper reporter.
Even after retiring, Kinoshita remains highly influential on social media. Sometimes, it might be necessary for her to take a break from the internet and live her life away from it.
