Ukon Onoe (31) attracted a great deal of attention with his innovative costumes and daring performance in the new kabuki play “Tsuki no Tsurugi Neshinokirinoha” staged at the Shinbashi Enbujo Theater in Tokyo in July 2011. The “prince of the Kabuki world,” who continues to make great strides, was secretly living with an “older woman. The following is a look back at the details based on an article we published on January 12, 2012.

Ukon and his girlfriend walking arm in arm. She was as beautiful as Ukon, both standing and walking.

In mid-December 2011, a handsome man dressed all in black, from cap to sneakers, was slowly walking down the slope of Meguro Street, which extends gently from Meguro Station.

Beside the man was a slender, beautiful woman stylishly dressed in a long navy blue down coat and knee-high boots. Her back was straight and her eyes reminded me somewhat of actress Mayuko Kawakita (32).

After walking shoulder to shoulder for a while, the woman suddenly took the man’s arm and intertwined her fingers with his. The two were then sucked into “T,” a restaurant with a long line of customers.

This man in black is Ukon Onoe, the prince of the Kabuki world.

His great-grandfather was Onoe Kikugoro VI, who led the Kabuki world in the Taisho era (1912-1926), and his grandfather was Tsuruta Koji, a famous actor of the Showa era. In 2006, at the tender age of 25, he starred in a double cast with Ennosuke Ichikawa (48) in “Super Kabuki One Piece,” and is attracting attention as a young hope in the Kabuki world.

After about an hour, they came out of the “T” and headed home by train from Meguro Station. When they got off at the nearest station, they again took each other’s hands and intertwined their fingers, and while waiting at a traffic light, they looked into the show windows of a shopping mall painted in bright red.

When they came to an alley, they broke their hands and immediately moved away from each other. The woman entered the modern-looking apartment building with a familiar hand, and Ukon entered the same apartment building, taking his time and paying attention to his surroundings.
