 What did &#8220;FRIDAY&#8221; report 10, 20, and 30 years ago? In &#8220;Playback Friday,&#8221; we take a look back at the topics that were hot at the time. This time, we bring you a story from the April 22, 1994 issue, which was published 30 years ago : &#8220;Four high school girls confessed to &#8216;Prostitution on School Holidays&#8217; by calling out to others as if they were part-timers.
 Today, the existence of &#8220;tachinbo&#8221; in Shinjuku&#8217;s Okubo Park and other areas has been repeatedly reported in the media, and it is not uncommon to see women who appear to be &#8220;under 18 years old&#8221; among them. It is not uncommon to see women who appear to be under the age of 18. However, the &#8220;standing high school girls&#8221; mentioned in this article are of a slightly different type. <h3> They would say, &#8216;I&#8217;ll give you an allowance, do you want to play? I&#8217;ll give you some money to play with.</h3>
 Although we can only show you a back view, the four girls hanging out in front of Nakano Station in Tokyo are all 17 years old and high school girls.
 The leader of the group, A, is a sophomore at a Tokyo metropolitan high school and looks a bit like Minako Tanaka, while B and C are also sophomores at a Tokyo metropolitan high school.
 Except for the fact that they all smoke cigarettes in broad daylight, they are dressed in the casual clothes of ordinary high school girls, and their makeup is rather subdued. Even their makeup is light.
 These girls are said to be &#8220;Sekuri&#8221; friends. Sekuri&#8221; is a cloak word among these girls, and it is said to refer to prostitution. The fact that high school girls were prostituting themselves using teleclubs and message dials had already been reported in the media at the time, but their style was a bit unique, according to Ako.
 They would go to Sunshine Street in Ikebukuro or near the Koma Theater in Kabukicho (now the Shinjuku Toho Building; editor&#8217;s note) to pick up young men. If I go to pick up a girl and a young man approaches me, he may pick me up, but if I&#8217;m standing still, he will ask me, &#8216;I&#8217;ll give you some allowance, do you want to play? I would be asked if I wanted to play with them. In those cases, I say, &#8216;I want 30,000 yen,&#8217; and we go straight to a hotel.

 The pattern is the same for the other three. C, the oldest, has been a sex worker for a little over a year, and the other three have been doing it for only a few months. They are active once a week, and when it is too much trouble to stand on a street corner, they go to a teleclub for &#8220;business meetings.
 On &#8220;Sekuri&#8221; days, I take the day off from school and call the teleclub at a friend&#8217;s house or my own house. I usually call from Nakano, Shibuya, Meguro, or Ogikubo. Sometimes we have sex from 3:00 p.m. Even on days when I go to school, I start at 5:00 p.m. and finish my &#8220;work&#8221; by 9:00 p.m.&#8221; (Child B)

All four have parents in their 40s and both are dual-income earners. In one case, C says that she saves the money from the &#8220;Sekuri,&#8221; but in most cases, she says, &#8220;It goes to the karaoke box and shopping&#8221; (D).
 The customers are mainly businessmen in their late 20s to late 30s, and they say they have never had a scary experience. Their comments suggest that the &#8220;sellers&#8221; have the upper hand, perhaps because of the current boom in high school girls.

 The position is normal. I don&#8217;t like it if it takes too long, so when I say, &#8216;It hurts,&#8217; or &#8216;I&#8217;m tired,&#8217; they stop. But everyone finishes in about 30 minutes. I always ask them to wear a condom.
 I gave her a hand job and she came. I came and she gave me 20,000 yen for it. I was lucky.
 I came just by kissing her and licking her pussy, and she gave me 25,000 yen.
 The magazine lamented at the end of its article about the high school girls who were doing and saying whatever they wanted, as follows.
 I guess it&#8217;s not right to think that most high school girls are prostitutes, but it makes old men &#8220;distrust high school girls&#8221; again.

 At that time, most of the &#8220;stand-up girls&#8221; in Tokyo were foreigners of Southeast Asian or South American descent, and they were active only late at night. They were mostly found in less popular places, such as love hotel districts. In other words, what the high school girls in this article were doing was prostitution, but it could be said that they were just riding the high school girls&#8217; boom and not their &#8220;real job.
 Furthermore, in order for their &#8220;tachimbo&#8221; business to be viable, the presence of adults who knew about it and negotiated with them on price was indispensable. This may be due in part to the fact that at the time, there was no ordinance in Tokyo regulating &#8220;prostitution&#8221; of youths under the age of 18.
 The &#8220;Sekuri&#8221; (prostitution) that high school girls were engaged in was eventually converted into the more easily understood term &#8220;Aid Goyoukai&#8221; and spread further in the latter half of the 1990s.
