SANDWICHMAN’s Mikio Date and Takeshi Tomizawa… “Really good friends” in their private life as well.

A rugby goods specialty store in a prime Tokyo location was about to close for the day. Mikio Date (49) of “SANDWICHMAN” wearing a cap and a flamboyant scajan slipped into the store!　He eagerly began to select his wear. Soon after, another giant of a man came charging into the store – apparently he had an appointment with his partner Takeshi Tomizawa (49). They both played rugby in high school and played the same position as props. The two, who had been in the first row of a scrum, would debate over what to do and what not to do until the store was “no side.

In the “Talent Image Survey” (Video Research) released in February 2012, “SANDWICHMAN” was ranked No. 1 in popularity, surpassing Shohei Otani (29). The duo’s love for each other was the reason for their 11th consecutive win.

It’s been 26 years since we formed, but we have never had any trouble. We trust each other so much that we are like a family. Many duos sit apart when traveling by bullet trains or airplanes because they don’t want to be together 24/7, but the two members of SANDWICHMAN always sit together. Their good rapport must be conveyed to the viewers even through the screen.
