<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After being arrested, the suspect may have realized the magnitude of his crime. The man who emerged from the police station looked around restlessly.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On March 27, a company employee, Yasutsugu Morimoto, 35, of Adachi Ward, Tokyo, was arrested by the Katsushika Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of violating the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Law. He is alleged to have engaged in lewd acts with a junior high school girl at a hotel in Osaka Prefecture.</span></p>
<p><b>“The alleged incidents occurred twice, in April and June of last year. The suspect, who was 14 years old at the time, engaged in lewd acts with a junior high school girl, A, knowing that she was under 18 years old. Morimoto filmed the acts with Ms. A using a smartphone. The police confiscated dozens of indecent images, including those of other girls, from the smartphone.</b></p>
<p><b>The incident came to light in an unexpected way. In May of last year, the police received an anonymous tip. Based on the information, the police conducted an investigation and arrested Morimoto. Upon investigation, Morimoto admitted to the crime, saying, &#8216;There is no doubt that I did it.”</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What is interesting is the connection between Morimoto, a 35-year-old Tokyo resident, and a junior high school girl from Osaka. The two began interacting with each other through an unexpected chance encounter.</span></p>
<p><b>“In November 2022, Morimoto followed Ms. A on Twitter (formerly X), and the two began talking about a popular video game and kept in touch. I heard that Morimoto invited her to meet him.”</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The police believe that Morimoto may have committed additional crimes, judging from the number of images saved on his phone.</span></p>
